Hello Friend--

If you were forwarded this email, be sure to subscribe to my e-newsletter here!

This week I want to share with you my thoughts on inflation, a recent hearing of the House Budget Committee, visits across the district, and wishes for a blessed Easter.

I enjoy hearing from you and responding to questions from your emails, phone calls, and letters. If you would like to share your concerns or opinions with me, or if you have questions about legislation or specific votes, you can send me an email here.

Inflation Remains at 40-year Highs

The latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that inflation remains at 40-year highs. The cost of groceries is up ten percent. The price of gasoline is up 48 percent. These increased prices are costing families over $5,200 a year. Americans effectively are receiving a massive pay cut. Real hourly earnings are down 2.7 percent from a year ago.

A report from the National Federation of Independent Businesses says that inflation is now the top issue that small businesses are concerned about. This echoes what I heard earlier this week during a roundtable with local manufacturers in Lancaster with Senator Pat Toomey. In addition to inflation, small businesses remain concerned about finding skilled employees to fill their vacancies.

Gas prices remain high and rather than unleashing American energy independence, the Biden administration seeks to impose $45 billion in new taxes on energy producers. Biden has got it all wrong. We should be doing everything we can to increase domestic energy production and it must be a national security priority.

Ensuring Pennsylvanians Access to Care

The Wolf administration put forth a plan to force unionization of health professionals, which puts Medicaid patients at risk and could limit their access to healthcare. During a recent meeting of the House Budget Committee, I asked Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Becerra to protect Pennsylvanians' access to care.
