October was a busy month across Lancaster and York counties, I had opportunities to visit local businesses, meet with students and community leaders, and hear directly from the people I represent.
In this edition, I'll highlight those visits, share updates on workforce challenges and immigration reform, and discuss my recent Fox News interview about our national debt, and encouraging news about the American economy.
I enjoy hearing from you and responding to your emails, phone calls, and letters, and I welcome your thoughts. Whether you have concerns, questions about legislation, or feedback on my work, you can send me an email here.

Visiting the Businesses That Power Our Local Economy
I enjoyed visiting businesses throughout Lancaster and York counties to learn more about their operations and the people behind their success.
In Hanover, I toured L2 Brands, an American-made apparel company that has grown from a small business to an employer of hundreds. I wish them continued success!
At American Hydro in York, I learned how a company founded by four engineers in 1986 has grown to approximately 165 employees, manufacturing and restoring hydroelectric turbines for facilities around the world. Thank you to CEO Chetan Chauhan and the entire team for the tour!
I also visited Cleveland Brothers in Brownstown, a family-led company now in its third generation of leadership, with the fourth already involved. Its heavy equipment, rentals, parts, and services help keep businesses throughout our region moving.

World-class research, product development, and manufacturing are happening right here in York County at Adhesives Research in Glen Rock!
What began in a converted garage in 1961 has grown into an international company employing over 400 people. It has remained a family-owned business and is a great American success story that is a testament to the ingenuity happening right here in our communities.
Thank you to the entire Adhesives Research team for the behind-the-scenes tour and for sticking with and continuing to invest in York County!
A big thank you to the team at Miller Chemical in Hanover for the firsthand look at your operations. I appreciated our discussion and learning about how this family-owned operation has helped farmers across the globe!

At Simplex Paper Box in Hallam, a family-owned packaging manufacturer with roots dating to 1905, we discussed challenges facing small businesses, including healthcare costs and our national debt.
I also toured DS Stoves and DS Fabrication, a family-owned Lancaster County business producing heating equipment and custom metal fabrication.
In Lititz, I visited Oehme Bros. Warhorse Garage, where skilled craftsmen restore and preserve historic World War II military vehicles and armor. Their dedication to preserving history is impressive!

Preparing the Next Generation of Skilled Workers
There are amazing things happening at York County School of Technology!
I appreciated returning to campus, meeting and learning from students in the welding and precision machining programs, and seeing their impressive hands-on work.
Thank you to the administrators and educators preparing York County students for success after graduation!

Connecting with Our Communities
I enjoyed a day in Manheim, beginning with lunch and conversation with local elected officials from northern Lancaster County at Twisted Sisters Ice Cream and Handmade Chocolates, alongside State Representative Mindy Fee.
We also visited Stiegel Glassworks 1976, Glasshouse Wineworks, and REO Manheim Marketplace, showcasing Manheim's history, local businesses, and vibrant downtown.
I also spoke with the Hanover Rotary Club, providing a Washington update and answering questions. As a former Rotarian, I always enjoy connecting with an organization dedicated to community service.

Celebrating Our Region's Natural Beauty and Role in American History

I was pleased to welcome National Heritage Area leaders to York County for the Alliance of National Heritage Areas' fall meeting, hosted by the Susquehanna National Heritage Area.
I was proud to sponsor the legislation establishing the Susquehanna National Heritage Area, encompassing Lancaster and York counties, which became law in 2019.
As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we can take pride in our region's role in our nation's founding. Lancaster briefly served as our nation's capital in 1777 before the Continental Congress relocated to York, where the Articles of Confederation were adopted.
Thank you to the Susquehanna National Heritage Area and its partners for preserving this important history! |

Discussing Workforce Challenges and Immigration Reform
I joined employers and business leaders for a roundtable at Wagman, Inc. in York County to discuss workforce shortages affecting industries throughout our region.
President Trump's policies have helped secure our southern border, and Congress must codify those policies to ensure it remains secure. We also need an immigration system that meets our economy's workforce needs.
My bipartisan Essential Workers for Economic Advancement Act would establish an H-2C temporary worker visa program for employers who demonstrate they cannot fill available positions with American workers, while prioritizing opportunities for Americans.
My USA Workforce Investment Act would encourage private investment in workforce development, apprenticeships, and career and technical education, helping Americans gain the skills needed to succeed.
I'm also a cosponsor of the bipartisan Dignity Act, which would codify policies to strengthen and maintain border security while advancing broader reforms to fix our broken immigration system.
I appreciated hearing directly from employers about the challenges they face and potential solutions.

Discussing America's Debt with Fox News' Bret Baier
I recently joined Bret Baier on Fox News to discuss our growing national debt and the challenges it poses for America's future.
Rising interest costs consume resources that could otherwise support important national priorities, while continued borrowing threatens our long-term economic prosperity.
We cannot wait until a fiscal crisis forces difficult decisions. Congress must work together to put our nation on a sustainable fiscal path.
Thank you to Bret and his team for dedicating a special segment to this important issue and bringing greater attention to the challenges we face.

Encouraging News for the American Economy
There was encouraging economic news this week. According to new data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of 3.4 percent in the third quarter of 2026.
I'm proud to have helped deliver the Working Families Tax Cuts, pro-growth tax reform that is providing lasting relief for families and small businesses through permanent lower tax rates and new deductions for qualifying tips and overtime.
I'll continue advancing policies that support economic growth, jobs, and opportunity. |

When Norman and Kathy experienced a lengthy delay receiving their federal tax refund, they contacted my office for assistance.
My constituent services team worked with the IRS on their behalf, helping them finally receive the refund they were owed.
Norman and Kathy recently sent a thoughtful letter expressing their appreciation, writing: "We certainly appreciate when a political leader keeps his word!"
I'm grateful for their kind words and proud of my team's dedication to serving the people of Lancaster and York counties.
If you're having difficulty with the IRS, Social Security, Veterans Affairs, or another federal agency, my office may be able to help.
