The Rural Energy of America Program (REAP) provides funding for rural small businesses, farmers, and ranchers to install renewable energy or energy efficiency improvements on their property. They are accepting rolling applications for funding with a final deadline on September 30, 2024.
The Department of Transportation has launched their Reconnecting Communities Pilot program, which aims to connect communities divided by transportation infrastructure with a priority on helping disadvantaged communities improve access to daily needs. The application ends September 30, 2024.
The Department of Energy has opened its Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program to help local governments reduce energy use and emissions while improving energy efficiency. Interested local governments have until October 31, 2024 to submit their application.
The Bureau of Reclamation has opened its WaterSMART grants to local governments and nonprofits in the Western United States to fund projects that conserve water and use it more efficiently. The deadline to apply has been moved back from October to November 13, 2024.
The EPA has an open Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change grants program with funding for community programs to implement climate action and pollution reduction plans. The rolling application is open until November 21, 2024. Interested applicants can find more information on and apply for technical assistance specific to this grant here.
The Department of Transportation anticipates opening several major grant programs in the coming months, including the Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation Program (PROTECT) (expected to open later in September) and the Low-Carbon Transportation Grants Program was just announced and will take applicants until November 25. FEMA is expected to open up the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant later in the fall to fund preparedness efforts against cyber attacks.
The EPA has selected Green & Healthy Homes Initiative Inc. as the Region 3 grantmaker organization for the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program and expects to open up sub-awardee grant applications this fall. This opportunity allows smaller nonprofit organizations and local governments to address environmental and public health efforts, and is specifically designed to be more accessible to smaller organizations with less organizational capacity to apply to federal grants.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration has a Sober Truth on Preventing Underage Drinking Act (STOP Act) Grant Program which works to prevent and reduce alcohol use among youth and young adults.
