June Monthly Grants Newsletter

Dear Friend,

Growing good jobs and opportunities here in Western Pennsylvania will always be a top priority for me. I know it’s important to you, too. One of the ways I work toward this goal is by sending around monthly updates on federal funding opportunities and connecting you to people who can give you funding guidance. That’s why I’m proud to share my June Grants Newsletter with you.

As always, my office will continue to track grant announcements in the district and fight to make sure this funding keeps flowing to projects that make life better for us in Western Pennsylvania. If you are the recipient of a federal grant and have been notified that this funding is no longer available to you, or you are experiencing other issues accessing your lawfully appropriated funds, please share your concerns with my office at PA17Grants@mail.house.gov.

Celebrating the Good People of PA-17

This month, I would like to highlight Crafton Borough as they just received $991,758 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This funding will go to support Crafton's Broadhead Sewer Separation Project, which includes installation of new storm sewer pipes, inlets, and manholes, along with reconstruction of streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and handicap ramps. This federal investment will support local construction jobs and help clean up Chartiers Creek and the Ohio River, keeping dangerous pollution from getting into our water and making us all safer and healthier.

This funding was awarded by an act of Congress' Fiscal Year 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act, which allocated $1.47 billion for 715 water infrastructure projects administered through EPA’s community grants. The funding bill was signed into law in December of 2022, and the EPA has now completed its reviews and formally announced grant awardees. Funding Tips and Reminders

Did you apply for Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) through the office of one of our United States Senators? Senator Fetterman and Senator McCormick have begun to list their chosen CDS projects on their respective websites. You can see Senator Fetterman’s Appropriations requests here and Senator McCormick’s Appropriations requests here. These lists are still being updated.

Given that grant programs are fluctuating by agency, court decisions, and more, my team and I highly recommend that you follow relevant agency newsletters and check grants.gov to see what grants are canceled, paused, or may have changed eligibility criteria.

If you are the recipient of a federal grant and have been notified that this funding is no longer available to you or are experiencing other issues accessing your lawfully appropriated funds, please share your concerns with me and my team at PA17Grants@mail.house.gov.
