Hello, friends!

This is Congressman Matt Van Epps, your representative of Tennessee’s Seventh Congressional District. From celebrating Easter with my family, presiding over a pro forma session in D.C., and following the Artemis II space mission to touring the district and completing a National Guard drill, it has been a busy two weeks. I am looking forward to getting back to D.C. for a three-week stretch of session, where I am hopeful we will pass DHS funding, build additional support for my HONOR Gold Star Families Act, and work on new legislation.

I am also extremely grateful for the brave servicemembers who put their lives on the line to rescue the pilot and weapon systems operator shot down in Iran on Good Friday.  No man left behind!

Tennessee's 7th is Home

I was proud to complete visits to all 14 counties across Tennessee's 7th District. Over the past four months, what I’ve seen and heard across our communities has only reinforced what we already know: we’ve got to bring Tennessee common sense to Washington. The values that define our district—our commitment to family and service, our deep belief in self-government, and our steadfast defense of freedom—aren’t just ideals, they’re how we live every day here at home. It’s an honor to represent the 7th district of Tennessee, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure your voice is heard.

Decatur County Recognition

It was my honor to recognize Decatur County for its remarkable response and unwavering commitment to service during Winter Storm Fern. The people of Decatur County’s example is one that deserves to be remembered and one that should inspire communities across our nation.

May we all strive to embody the same spirit of service, humility, and unity that the people of Decatur County so clearly displayed.

Hickman County Veterans Lunch

Always time well spent sitting down with those who’ve worn the uniform. The Hickman County Veterans Lunch was a great opportunity to listen, connect, and say thank you to those who served.

Wilkow Majority Interview

During a recent interview on The Wilkow Majority, we had a conversation about public safety and the need for accountability in Washington. We highlighted the success of the Memphis Safe Task Force, which has made meaningful progress in getting dangerous criminals off the streets and supporting law enforcement efforts in the community. We also discussed the ongoing challenges at the federal level, including Democrats’ decision to shut down the Department of Homeland Security, and what that means for border security and the safety of the American people.

Wally Mo Trailers

At Wally Mo Trailers I saw a great example of the kind of work ethic that defines our rural communities. Parsons continues to be home to people who take pride in what they do and keep that tradition of craftsmanship alive.

Praising the FFA

Agriculture is one of the most important sectors in the United States economy, employing 34 million people, and accounting for nearly 5% of the national GDP. The seventh district of Tennessee has more than 7,000 farms and more than 1 million acres of farmland—and 97% of them are family owned. Programs like the Future Farmers of America (FFA) are essential to raising the next generation of farmers and keeping our agriculture industry thriving. That’s why I was honored to attend the Tennessee FFA Legislative Breakfast and why I am committed to ensuring the policies coming out of Washington work for our growers and producers.

Artemis II

Artemis II was a critical step in restoring American leadership in deep space. As a member of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, I was proud to support this mission, sending astronauts farther than we’ve gone in over 50 years. This is about more than exploration. It’s about strengthening our technological edge, countering China’s ambitions, and building the capabilities needed for Mars and beyond.

Ronald Reagan once said, “The future doesn’t belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave.”
