Hello friends!

This is Congressman Matt Van Epps, the representative of Tennessee’s Seventh Congressional District. August has been a great opportunity to get back home in the district and spend time with the people who make Tennessee such a great place to live. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the chance to meet with local leaders, visit businesses and organizations, and hear directly from constituents about the issues that matter most to our communities.

Orange Heart Memorial

The Orange Heart Medal Memorial is a powerful tribute to Vietnam veterans who suffered the lasting wounds of Agent Orange but never received the recognition they deserved.

I’m grateful to my good friend Ken Gamble for his tireless work to honor these heroes and drive this important cause forward.

I encourage everyone to visit this incredible memorial and join us in honoring the Vietnam veterans who sacrificed so much for our country.

Tennessee Sheriff's Association

It was an honor to speak at the annual Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association Conference. Thank you to the sheriffs, deputies, and law enforcement officers who work every day to keep our communities safe. We’re grateful for your service and commitment to Tennessee.

RJ Corman and Hankook

Partnerships like the one between RJ Corman and Hankook in Clarksville are a big reason TN-07 and Montgomery County continue to drive business, manufacturing, and economic growth across our region.

Thank you for the hospitality and for all you do to create jobs and opportunity for the people of our district!

NHC Leadership

I met with leaders from NHC to discuss the critical work they’re doing across our district. I’m grateful for the meeting and what they do for so many in our district every day.

Mid-South Wire

Family-owned businesses like Mid-South Wire play an important role in Tennessee’s economy and communities. I’m proud to represent a district that is home to hardworking families, skilled workers, manufacturers, and businesses committed to doing things the right way.

Happy Birthday USCG

Since 1790, the brave men and women of the Coast Guard have protected our nation’s shores, secured our maritime borders, rescued those in peril, and answered the call whenever duty demanded. On August 4, we recognized the generations of Coast Guardsmen and their families who have served with honor, courage, and commitment.

Purple Heart Day

First established by General George Washington in 1782 as the Badge of Military Merit, the Purple Heart is the oldest military award still presented to American service members today. For nearly 250 years, it has stood as a symbol of extraordinary sacrifice, courage, and devotion to duty. On August 7, we honored all Purple Heart recipients and their families for the sacrifices they have made in defense of our freedoms.

Service Academy Day

Thank you to all the students and parents who joined us for Service Academy Day!

As a West Point graduate, I know firsthand how transformative these opportunities can be. It was inspiring to meet so many outstanding young people who are considering answering the call to serve our country through a service academy or ROTC program.

Thank you as well to the academies, ROTC, National Guard, and other military representatives who helped make the day a success. I’m excited to see where these students go—and I look forward to seeing many of them serve our nation in the years ahead!

The application to apply for service academy nominations is still open! As a proud graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, I understand the hard work and determination needed to apply and attend the service academies. Although it is no easy task, my time at West Point was invaluable to me, and it truly prepared me to understand the fight for freedom. The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 30th, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Click below to apply.

One of the greatest privileges of serving Tennessee's Seventh District is helping constituents experience our nation's capital. Whether it's arranging tours of the U.S. Capitol, connecting families with other historic sites, or simply helping make a trip to Washington, D.C., a little easier, my office is proud to play a small part in creating lasting memories.

Hearing that these visits become the highlight of a family's trip is incredibly rewarding, and my staff and I are grateful for the opportunity to showcase the history, institutions, and traditions that make our nation so special. If you're planning a visit to Washington, don't hesitate to reach out to my office. We would be honored to help make your trip one to remember.

1. Are you planning to visit Washington, D.C., in the next 12 months?
