Our Ongoing COVID19 Response
Dear Friend,
As we continue to battle this invisible enemy, our number one priority is ensuring the public health and safety of our nation. However, if we don’t engage economic viability in a thoughtful, strategic, and responsible way, we could be faced with economic depression-type conditions. The Texas two-step to recovery begins with making sure we get a lifeline of liquidity to small businesses by funding the Paycheck Protection Program, which has saved thousands of jobs for West Texans and injected hundreds of millions of dollars in our local economy. We must then begin to phase in a plan for reopening, or we could be faced with a cure that was far worse than the disease.
Below, you will find a recap my work in Washington. To ensure you're receiving the latest updates from Washington and across West Texas, I encourage you to follow me on Twitter and Facebook and encourage your fellow West Texans to sign up for my weekly newsletter.
Saving Rural Hospitals
The heartbeat of our nation is rural America, and the health care providers who service these communities are critical to protecting small town USA and the food, fuel, and fiber they provide for our nation. I was proud to lead a letter to the Administration with my friend and colleague, Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE), to ensure rural hospitals on the front-line of this pandemic have access to critical relief programs offered through the Small Business Administration.
For more of my thoughts on the importance of rural hospitals, read my latest op-ed in the Washington Examiner by clicking here or the image below.

China and WHO COVID Coverup
China must be held accountable for the deaths and infections caused by their systemic deception and intentional disinformation campaign and the WHO, being soft on China, exacerbated the problem. We cannot continue to carry the water for an organization that was complicit in the communist regime's coverup.
I applaud President Trump and his decision to withhold WHO funding, and believe we should continue to do so until their Director General is fired and a full investigation of their mishandling is conducted. To hear more, listen to my interview with Chad Hasty by clicking here or the image below.

Fighting For American Citizens
California Governor Gavin Newsom’s plan to provide cash assistance to illegal immigrants is ill-advised and irresponsible. There’s a difference between being compassionate and careless with taxpayer money.
That is why I joined Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO), and many of my colleagues, in writing President Trump to ensure any federal spending is exclusively reserved for tax-paying American citizens. To read that full letter, click here or the tweet below.

Facebook Live Q&A
Hearing directly from constituents allows me to better serve and represent TX-19 and our nation. That is why I held a Facebook Live Q&A to answer your questions and listen to the concerns shared by many West Texans. If you were unable to attend, you can click here or the video below to rewatch. To stay up to date on my Live Q&A sessions, telephone town halls, and other ways to connect, I encourage you to like my page on Facebook.

Positive News
Thankful for the Chapman family from Sweetwater. During these times of anxiety and uncertainty, acts of compassion are needed more than ever. I encourage you to read the sweet story, shared nationally by Fox News, of the Chapman family's 'prom on the porch' by clicking here or the article below.

It is an honor to be your Representative. Feel free to forward this COVID-19 update to our fellow West Texans and encourage them to sign up here for this weekly update. Our country has faced many battles and we have always prevailed stronger and more united. This time will be no different.
God bless you, your family, and God bless America.
Your friend and fellow West Texan,
Jodey C. Arrington Member of Congress |
