Dear Friend,

I want to take a minute to update you on the crisis at the southern border and what I am doing to fight for not only West Texans, but all Americans impacted by unprecedented and unmitigated catastrophe.

This week, I flew down to the southern border with President Trump, Governor Abbott, and the Texas Delegation to address the border crisis. The unraveling of policies that safeguarded our border and protected Americans has brought about lawlessness and chaos at the border.

Our federal government has failed to “faithfully execute the laws” and protect against cartel trafficking of people, drugs, and crime. We must secure the border, deport illegal immigrants, and prosecute border related crimes.

The Constitution is clear. → The chief responsibility of the federal government is to protect Americans, and this government is failing. Cartels have seized control of our border. I introduced a resolution affirming states' Constitutional right to defend their citizens and secure their border.

Last week, I led my 4th press conference on the border crisis with nearly 30 of my House colleagues affirming the sovereign power of states to defend themselves against the unmitigated deluge of drugs, crime, and illegal immigration streaming across our border. 

This issue is not just isolated to the border states – it has far-reaching implications, with those across the nation feeling the weight of the crisis. My colleagues from across the country, representing all 50 sovereign states, stand together with me deeply concerned with this unprecedented crisis at the border.
