Dear Friend,

Anne and I hope you and yours had a happy and safe Independence Day full of family and friends.

Below is an update on the work I am doing in Washington fighting on behalf of the good folks of West Texas. I spoke on the phone with USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai imploring her to prioritize U.S. energy investment interests in Mexico, celebrated the one-year anniversary of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) being signed into law, joined my Republican colleagues for a meeting on Stepped-Up-Basis to defend American farmers from Biden and Democrat leaderships proposed tax increases, and met with USDA Secretary Vilsack to discuss agriculture priorities critical to our region. Last week, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the historic U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) being signed into law. I sent a letter to United States Trade Ambassador Katherine Tai urging her to utilize the USMCA's strong enforcement mechanisms to defend U.S. energy investment interests in Mexico.

Family farmers and ranchers are the heart and soul of the food, fuel, and fiber capital of the world. Last week, I joined my colleagues for a meeting on Stepped-Up Basis to defend family-owned farms and businesses from Biden’s crushing tax hikes.

Farmers and ranchers deserve a strong negotiator prioritizing their interests across the globe. I led a bipartisan letter with Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) and 27 of my colleagues urging President Biden nominate a Chief Agricultural Negotiator to do so.

In our meeting, I raised my serious concerns with the radical ideology and extreme environmental policies of the Green New Deal, which are driving President Biden's economic agenda - including Waters of the United States (WOTUS), doubling the death tax, and banning drilling on public lands.
