Dear friend,

I want to take a moment to update you on several developments from the week you may have missed.

Over the weekend, Kamala Harris’s dismissive comments about rural Americans perfectly exemplified the Biden administration’s ignorance toward our rural communities.

This week, Democrats from the Texas Legislature fled to Washington D.C. to deny the legislature a quorum, ignoring the will of the people and specifically, rural voters, with the goal of preventing passage of common-sense election integrity measures. Texas Democrats have sent a clear message – they would prefer to grandstand in Washington D.C. rather than protect the safety and security of those they swore to represent.

As a Representative from rural West Texas committed to restoring public confidence in our elections, I find these recent developments incredibly concerning. The dysfunctional, slip-shod 2020 election created a crisis in confidence in our elections–restoring election integrity must be a top priority.

This weekend, the world also witnessed growing protests in communist Cuba for the first time in more than six decades. The Cuban people took to the streets to protest their lack of access to basic necessities and the repeated human rights violations they suffer at the hands of the tyrannical communist regime.

I stand unequivocally with the brave Cuban citizens who are rising up in protest against their communist government. As Americans, we must pay close attention – alluring promises of "free" healthcare and "free" government services are lies and instituting these policies would mean sacrificing the very freedoms upon which our great country was founded.
