Dear Friend,
This week, I was back in Crosby County to join my friends and fellow West Texans in discussions about the latest challenges facing healthcare providers, agriculture producers, mom-and-pop businesses, and community leaders. To ensure you are receiving the latest updates from me, I encourage you to visit my website, and follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
To kick off the day, I met with community leaders in Crosby County who represent local government for both the county and city, law enforcement officers, and healthcare providers.
I’m deeply concerned with the Radical Left and their influence within the Democrat Party and on our public policy. Their demands for defunding the police have created a growing crime wave, undermining the safety of both our citizens and law enforcement.
On top of that, Texas is reeling from the consequences of President Biden’s self-inflicted border crisis and the unprecedented deluge of human trafficking, drugs, and crime pouring into our country. West Texans respect the men and women in blue, are sick and tired of this lawlessness, and roundly reject the policies that are compromising our safety and liberty.
“Crosby County sees the upcoming visit by Congressman Jodey Arrington as a perfect opportunity to express ideas and become better informed about the state of our nation. Also, he won’t have seen more beautiful cotton in his lifetime!” - Martha Kirk, Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce
Later in the day, I met with Crosby County agriculture leaders to discuss the issues that they face day in and day out, as well as what they face moving forward.
We discussed Biden’s economic policies of tax and spend along with his ‘Green New Deal’ regulations have resulted in lower wages, inflation, and a labor shortage across the country. His plan to pay for his policies includes a devastating ‘Death Tax’ that would result in the largest scale liquidation of family farming and ranching operations in the history of our country. It’s clear this punitive tax provision to double the ‘Death Tax’ is the single biggest threat to our agriculture producers, small businesses, and rural communities.
Next on the Crosby Co. road trip, I visited Regional Health Mart to advocate for local pharmacies that provide top-quality care to local families, helping improve West Texans’ health and wellness. Pharmacies like Health Mart serve our communities and provide the resources and information with pharmacists they know and trust.
“Thank you, Congressman Arrington, for visiting Regional Pharmacy. We are delighted that Congressman Arrington values the small-town businesses that make West Texas the exceptional and charming place that it is and understands the vitality that small businesses bring to our region.” - Terry Patel, Owner, Regional Pharmacy
I've long advocated in Congress for more affordable prescriptions for American patients. I recently introduced several pieces of legislation to lower drug costs by bringing greater transparency to prescription drug pricing negotiations, fighting back against foreign freeloading, and ensuring drug rebates go directly to seniors at the pharmacy counter.
To conclude a productive day of meetings in Crosby County, I visited Hurst Farm Supply to learn about their mission and dedication to customer service and our West Texas ag producers. Since 1955, Hurst Farm Supply has provided West Texas farmers with the equipment, supplies, and repair services they need to help feed and clothe the world.
As always, it is an honor and privilege to represent you in Congress. Feel free to forward this newsletter to our fellow West Texans and encourage them to sign up here for this weekly update.
Your friend and fellow West Texan,
Jodey C. Arrington Member of Congress
