Maggi:
The past couple of weeks in Washington have been filled with discussions about the debt ceiling, forcing Congress to face the reality of a massive, and rising, national debt.
We will not default on our debt – we never have, and we never will. We will pay our creditors and protect the good faith and credit of the United States. However, we will not let politicians bankrupt this country and destroy our children’s future. We cannot issue new credit cards until Democrats agree to spending constraints and other fiscal reforms.
I encourage my Democrat colleagues to move beyond the tired, alarmist rhetoric and work across the aisle on ways we can reduce the debt and restore fiscal sanity to our nation’s capital. Republicans are working in good faith to pair a debt ceiling increase with budgetary reform measures that will stave off a fiscal crisis and ensure the next generation of Americans inherit the same freedoms and opportunities we did, and I’m hopeful that we can reach bipartisan agreement like we’ve done in the past.
I recently joined Neil Cavuto on Fox News’ Cavuto Live to discuss debt ceiling negotiations in Congress and the fiscal state of the nation.
The American people are waking up to the disastrous and irreparable consequences of a debt crisis as they see soaring interest rates and deal with inflation, which is completely untenable for most Americans living paycheck to paycheck. People are not only concerned about the current economic conditions that are self-inflicted from the failed economic policies of the Biden Administration, but they’re concerned about their children’s future in this country.
