Dear Brett,
Welcome back to my West Texas Wrap-Up. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of West Texas!
Ports-to-Plains
Recently, my legislation to name the Ports-to-Plains Corridor "I-27" was signed into law, marking an important step in the project that connects the ports of South Texas to the plains of West Texas and beyond.
This will be a game-changer for West Texas and America's Heartland.
The expansion of the I-27 corridor will stimulate substantial economic growth, increasing Texas's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by over $55.6 billion and providing a competitive edge to producers and manufacturers throughout the region by connecting our energy and agriculture industries to state, national, and international trade.

Mayorkas Impeachment
Two months ago, I voted to impeach Secretary Mayorkas.
I am convinced that Secretary Mayorkas' willful and continuous disregard for the laws of our land and his breach of public trust resulting in serious and systemic injury to our society represent not only a constitutional basis - but a sacred obligation - to impeach.
Impeaching Secretary Mayorkas was the right and responsible thing to do in faithfulness to the Constitution, in the protection of the American people, and in defense of the sovereignty of the United States of America.
Soon, House Impeachment Managers will deliver the impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas to the United States Senate.
Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats cannot ignore Mayorkas' failure to uphold his security mission and willful refusal to enforce our laws - a systematic and continued breach of public trust endangering our citizens.
The American people deserve accountability.
ENERGY WEEK
Since his first day in office, President Biden has unleashed a whole-of-government assault on domestic energy production, stifling American energy independence and empowering our energy-producing adversaries like Russia and Iran.
House Republicans are fighting to defend American energy independence and lower energy prices for consumers by streamlining permitting, repealing the EPA's 'green bank' slush fund, blocking harmful BLM leasing restrictions, and pushing back against the woke 'climate tax' that would decimate our economy.
Bolstering American energy production is not only critical to our economy, it is vital for our national security, and no one does it better than West Texas.
Take a look at some of my recent votes to bolster American energy production:
- H.Res. 987, which denounces the harmful, anti-American energy policies of the Biden administration;
- The Cutting Green Corruption and Taxes Act (H.R. 1023), which repeals the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a $27 billion “green bank” intended to allow the EPA to finance clean energy projects by funding individual organizations;
- The Protecting American Energy Production Act (H.R. 1121), which prevents President Biden from implementing a moratorium on fracking and expresses that states have primacy over energy production on state and private land;
- H.Con. Res. 86, which expresses the sense of Congress that a carbon tax would not be in the best interest of the country, because it would raise energy prices, crush families and businesses, and be detrimental to the economy;
- The Creating Confidence in Clean Water Permitting Act (H.R. 7023), which streamlines the Nationwide Permit (NWP) process and maintains certainty for regulated entities involved in improving U.S. energy production, transportation infrastructure, and other commercial activities; and
- The Restoring American Energy Dominance Act (H.R. 6009), which blocks the BLM’s proposed rule to increase bonding rates for oil and gas production on federal lands, unfairly burdening small operators that can’t obtain a bond without significant collateral.
