Dear Brett,
Welcome back to my West Texas Wrap-Up. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of West Texas!
Fighting for Rural America
With Congress set to consider additional disaster relief funding when it returns, I urged House Speaker Mike Johnson to include economic assistance for West Texas farmers and ranchers who have suffered from record droughts, skyrocketing input costs, and rock-bottom commodity prices.
Since my first day in Congress, I have been a champion for Rural America. We:
- Got cotton back into Title I of the Farm Bill;
- Delivered trade assistance like the Market Facilitation Program (MFP);
- Provided emergency relief through the Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program (WHIP) and Emergency Relief Program (ERP);
- Fought to protect the exemptions in the death tax;
- Passed a 20% tax deduction for family farmers;
- Worked to repeal overreach regulations like Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS);
- Improved market access in trade deals such as USMCA; and
- Secured important rural infrastructure like the I-27 Ports-to-Plain corridor.

Traveling West Texas
I recently concluded a West Texas Tour, during which I visited various areas of TX-19 to visit local hospitals, meet with small business owners and local leaders, and speak with constituents about their concerns.
Andrews County
I had a great time in Andrews County visiting with local leaders, discussing the economic hardships facing our communities.
Biden and Harris have launched an all-out assault on Rural America - our agriculture and energy economy, our working families, and our values - and communities like Andrews are paying the price.
We need to rein-in Washington, return to pro-energy policies, and put an end to the welfare state by unleashing the full potential of the American economy and, most importantly, the American people.
Gaines County
I had a great time meeting with friends and fellow West Texans at a townhall in Gaines County, answering questions and speaking about the direction of our country.
We all agree, there needs to be a sense of urgency because our nation is at a historic inflection point: we will either renew our faith in God and freedom or submit to the rise of socialism and the tyranny of a woke and weaponized federal government.
Martin County
Our great nation does not reap the benefits of energy independence and food security without excellent rural health care keeping our hard-working, freedom-loving workers in Rural America healthy and taken care of, and nobody understands this better than the Martin County Medical Hospital District.
Recognized as one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in 2023 and 2024, we take great pride in having one of the best hospitals in the country right in our backyard. Keep up the great work!
Howard County
I had the privilege of joining the Big Spring Economic Development Corp and Big Spring Chamber of Commerce for a Howard County Community Roundtable.
Communities like Big Spring have suffered under the skyrocketing inflation, excessive regulation, and woke policies that have become the hallmark of the Biden-Harris administration.
Fortunately, we have the opportunity to chart a new path and restore prosperity for hardworking families.
Mitchell County
I had the privilege of speaking to the Mitchell County Farm Bureau about the importance of supporting our cowboys and plowboys in West Texas and ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed.
Unfortunately, in Washington, many politicians take Rural America and the men and women who feed, fuel, and clothe our nation for granted.
That’s why I’ll never stop fighting for them and making sure our hardworking farmers and ranchers have a voice in our nation’s capital.
Taylor County
Great to join my friends at Hendrick Medical Center who recently celebrated their 100th year anniversary of faithful service to Abilene and the Big Country.
Hendrick’s story is one of resilience and community support, and, since the beginning, Hendrick Health has always been driven by its Christian mission to provide compassionate care to all in need.
I’m thankful for their commitment to providing healthcare to a growing region and delivering exceptional care to thousands of West Texans every year.
"United We Read"
Thank you to Idalou Elementary School for inviting my office to spend some time with their students! Two members of Team Arrington from our Lubbock Congressional Office, Madison and Brooklyn, had the pleasure of visiting second graders as a part of the “United We Read” program, where they read to students, led a craft activity, and talked about the importance of working hard. Go Wildcats! Go West Texas!!
Q3 GDP Growth at 2.8 Percent
Today, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) released its first estimate for economic growth in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024. The report found that real U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) only grew by 2.8 percent.
As Americans continue struggling to make ends meet, it is clear that the Biden-Harris failed tax and spend policies remain the biggest impediment to economic prosperity for working families.
But there is reason to be optimistic. Just this week, the Conference Board released its latest report on consumer confidence, showing that as a second Trump Presidency becomes more likely, hope for the future rises.
According to the Conference Board report, consumers clearly understand the stark difference between the economic policies and consequences of the two presidential candidates, and they trust President Trump over VP Harris to turn our economy around and give them a more hopeful financial future.
