Delivering for WTX
As a result of Democrats’ reckless spending and Biden’s failed economic policies, our farmers have been walking the high wire of production agriculture with effectively no safety net.
Without passing emergency disaster relief funding to address the catastrophic effects of historic drought and record inflation, we would have threatened our food supply, jeopardized our young farmers, and put entire rural communities at risk.
As Budget Chairman, I’m proud to have worked with Speaker Johnson and my colleagues to ensure these necessary resources were included in the recent year-end funding bill.
Going forward, it is imperative for farmers and taxpayers alike that we move away from un-budgeted, ad hoc emergency spending by fixing the Farm Bill’s broken safety net.
I’m honored to have worked with Speaker Johnson and the GOP House leadership to deliver disaster relief, clear the way for President Trump’s America First agenda, and secure a commitment to significantly reduce deficit spending through reconciliation next year.
An Honor to Represent You
It is an honor to represent the Food, Fuel, and Fiber Capital of the World in the United States Congress, and I am incredibly humbled that West Texans have placed their confidence in me to continue serving them.
This Congress, we have a historic opportunity to accomplish big things for the American people - from securing the border and restoring rule of law to reining-in a woke and wasteful bureaucracy and unleashing prosperity once again.
As I took the oath of office recently, I reflected on God’s providence in the life of our country (and His grace in mine), the awesome responsibility of governing our great nation, and my family, friends, and fellow West Texans who have been behind me every step of the way. My family and I are forever grateful to you.
May God grant us the wisdom and courage to serve well and leave a safer, stronger, and freer America for generations to come.
The Laken Riley Act
This week, the House passed the Laken Riley Act (H.R.29).
For four years, the Biden administration’s complete and total surrender of our southern border has decimated communities and families across the country, resulting in the deaths of countless Americans like Laken Riley.
In this new era of Republican leadership, we are delivering for the American people – and that starts with securing the border and protecting our communities.
The Laken Riley Act will give law enforcement the tools they need to keep dangerous illegals off the streets and empower state governments to protect their people.
America First
I'm proud to have introduced the America First Act, legislation to prevent illegal immigrants paroled into the United States from accessing billions of dollars in welfare and other benefits intended for American families. President Biden’s unprecedented abuse of parole for foreign citizens illegally entering our country has resulted in millions of illegal aliens being supported and subsidized by struggling American families through their tax dollars, worsening the border crisis.
Over the last four years, the unprecedented and unmitigated crisis at the southern border has devastated our communities. As long as we provide taxpayer funded social services to illegal immigrants, there is no physical barrier or number of border patrol agents that will stop them. To add insult to injury, we’re paying $9,000 per illegal immigrant - more than we spend on Medicaid for our most vulnerable Americans or military retirement benefits for our soldiers.
This legislation, which was joined by my colleague Chip Roy along with Mike Lee in the Senate, would cut off federal benefits for illegals and save over $177 billion.
