Dear Brett,

As the current government shutdown continues, I wanted to remind you that every year, my office works to resolve over 700 constituent casework requests. While delays in response time from federal agencies may be occurring due to the shutdown, my office remains open and available to assist West Texans.

If you cannot get an answer from a federal agency, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, my office may be able to assist you in resolving the problem or provide you with more information.

ABOUT THE FAR-LEFT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

With government funding set to expire on October 1, House Republicans passed a "clean" Continuing Resolution (CR) on September 19 to ensure the government would remain open. This legislation is called "clean" because it contains ZERO new Republican policies - it simply would extend current law.

Since House Republicans passed this clean CR, Senate Democrats have BLOCKED the bill from becoming law by voting it down over 10 times, which shut down the government.

In Texas alone, we are suffering a weekly decline of $1.4 billion in Gross State Product as a result of the far-Left shutdown.

The nonpartisan, independent Congressional Budget Office confirmed the far-Left shutdown is increasing unemployment, reducing consumer spending, diminishing private-sector income, and stifling overall economic growth. Simply put, the far-Left is playing partisan games at the expense of the American people’s livelihoods.

Despite the lapse of government funding due to the far-Left Shutdown, Members of Congress still receive their salary. I find it fundamentally flawed that members of our military don't get paid, yet their representatives are permitted to live under a different set of rules. That's why I am withholding my paycheck until the government re-opens.
