Lesko Meetings

This week, I met with Enterprise to discuss ongoing data and cybersecurity issues in the rental car industry.
 
It was great speaking at the 9^th annual Washington, D.C. U.S. Energy Stream Forum on the American energy industry and the importance of American energy independence.


It was wonderful meeting with McKesson to discuss drug shortage issues and ways Congress can help address this serious problem.
 
I met with the Maricopa County Farm Bureau to discuss issues in agriculture and ways Congress can continue to support one of the most vital sectors of our economy.
 

I had a great meeting with the Hopi, the Navajo, and the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribes to discuss water issues they are facing.

In Arizona, many patients benefit from the 340B drug pricing program, but it’s vital we continue improving the program to promote better patient outcomes, especially for our most vulnerable communities.

Data centers have recently become a huge industry in Arizona, creating many jobs and helping to boost the economy; but that doesn’t mean they don’t come without challenges, particularly with the amount of energy they require.

Get the Facts: D-Day

Thursday marked 80 years since the allied powers invaded the beaches of Normandy in the largest amphibian invasion in military history. 156,000 troops stormed the beaches in an invasion known as “Operation Overload” to rid Europe from the grip of Nazi tyranny and bring hope for a better tomorrow. They were accompanied by around 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower prepared the troops with his famous command, “The eyes of the world are upon you... The hopes and prayers of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. Your task will not be an easy one… Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened, he will fight savagely… I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory!” And quite the victory they had, which gave the allied forces the strength to continue and defeat Nazi tyranny. On that fateful day, more than 73,000 Americans risked their lives and among them 1,465 lost their lives and 5,000 were wounded. We enjoy their legacy, respect their bravery, and honor the sacrifice of the greatest generation this country has ever seen. It is another reminder that freedom is not free.

Casework Highlight

A constituent needed an electric wheelchair from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to be used after an upcoming surgery. The VA was not responding to his requests as his surgery date was getting closer. We contacted the VA, identified the issue, and the constituent was provided the wheelchair before his surgery.

Global Entry Process Renewal

If you already have Global Entry for traveling and have not yet renewed your membership, now may be the time. Eligibility to renew your membership begins one year prior to program expiration, but you will still be eligible to use benefits up to 24 months following your membership expiration date. Military Academy Nominations

As a member of Congress, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. This would include nominating candidates for appointment to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. For more information click here.
