President Trump Assassination Attempt

Last weekend, at a rally in Butler County, PA our nation experienced the unthinkable when a gunman attempted to assassinate the former president, nearly taking his life and in the process, taking the life of Corey Comperatore and injuring two others. By the grace of God, President Trump survived and most rally-goers were left unharmed. As we reflect on this tragedy, I believe one of the most important things we can do is pray. We must pray for the family of Corey Comperatore as they struggle through the pain of grief, pray for President Trump as he continues to fight for our great country, pray for those injured as they navigate a tough road toward recovery, and pray for our nation that we may come back stronger as one. It is more important now than ever before in recent history that our country comes together. Regardless of political affiliation, it is important we treat one another with mutual respect, grace, and love. We are all part of the most beautiful experiment the world has ever known, the United States of America. Although we may differ, we all share one common identity as Americans. No one should fear exercising their God-given right of peaceful assembly and our problems must be solved at the ballot box, not through violence. As we head into November, we must remember the importance of our values and continue to fight for a better, brighter tomorrow.

Get the Facts: Bidenflation's Housing Problem

When talking about the ways inflation under President Biden has impacted everyday Americans, some of the most common things we talk about are gas and groceries. While these things are definitely important, and have become quite costly under the Biden Administration, one of the other very serious issues plaguing America’s families, especially young people, is the price of housing. When looking at housing market trends in Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina, Redfin discovered not only have home prices themselves skyrocketed nearly 40% since 2020, but the median monthly housing payment has increased a whopping 92% since the 2020 election. In these states, the median homeowner would spend 21.8% of their household income on their home in 2020. Today, that’s gone up to 32.8%. Many young families and people starting out today are not even considering the option of home ownership with some even opting to live with their parents. In 2023, more than half of U.S. adults between 18 and 24 lived with their parents due to the combination of out-of-reach home prices and rising rents. Skyrocketing home prices have the potential to leave parts of the American dream completely out of reach for some generations as they are left facing the impossibility of raising a family while trying to keep up with rising costs at the grocery store and a mortgage taking up a third of their income. President Biden has claimed over and over again that his economic solutions will focus on uplifting middle-class Americans and lower-class Americans. However, Americans middle-class and below are the ones feeling the brunt of Bidenflation’s impact on the housing market. Now more than ever, it’s important for us to focus on solving the issue of housing prices in this country and it does not look like Bidenomics is the answer.

Casework Highlight

A constituent was moving out of the country for work and needed their apostille documents through the Department of State. They were not processed or received back in a timely manner, and were outside of normal processing time. We contacted the State Department, located the documents, and had them sent in time for the constituent to make their moving date.

Military Academy Nominations

As a member of Congress, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. This would include nominating candidates for appointment to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. For more information click here.
