Remembering Officer Evans
On Tuesday, I paid my respects to Officer Billy Evans as he lied in honor in the Capitol Rotunda. Officer Evans gave his life protecting the Capitol, and my prayers are with his family as they mourn this tragic loss of life. I'm thankful for all our law enforcement as they defend our communities, especially all the Capitol Police as they protect our historic Capitol building and members of Congress everyday.
H.R. 7 - Paycheck Fairness Act
This week, the House voted on H.R. 7, the so called Paycheck Fairness Act. Once again, the Democrats have come up with a misleading name for a bill that has little to do with what they are pushing for. This bill is offensive to all women because instead of getting paid for what you produce, the government is lowering the bar.
As the government mandated shutdowns continue to cause businesses to close, instead of supporting our businesses and encouraging them to create jobs, all this bill does is put extra burdens on them. Why do we continue to hurt those that give our citizens jobs?

Border Crisis
Another week and still President Biden has not addressed the crisis we are seeing at our border. This crisis is not just a border state crisis, this affects every single one of us. Last Friday, the Department of Health and Human Services announced they are going to be bringing unaccompanied alien children to Michigan. While the White House continues to say that we need to do everything to prevent the coronavirus from spreading, and Michigan has become a hotspot, they have decided to send kids to our state that illegally cross our border and may even test positive for COVID. Does this administration care how hypocritical they are?
On Wednesday, during the House Armed Services Committee hearing, "National Security Challenges and U.S. Military Activity in North and South America," our military leaders responded to my question stating that the situation at the border is imperative to our National Security. If our military leaders see the issue, why hasn't the President acknowledged the crisis? This begs the question, is President Biden listening to his military officials? We must handle this situation now.
