Dear Friend,

Every year, I have the honor of nominating qualified students from Maryland’s  8th District for appointment to our nation’s Service Academies. The privilege of attending a Service Academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. I recently hosted a Virtual U.S. Service Academy Information Session presentation with representatives from the Service Academies. I encourage all interested students and parents to watch the virtual presentation by clicking here or clicking the image below to learn more about the opportunity to join the Service Academies.

If you have any questions, please check our Service Academy webpage, or call my District Office at 301-354-1000.

About the Academies

Students can apply for a nomination to one or more of our nation’s Service Academies, which prepare future commissioned officers for the United States Armed Forces: the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and the United States Air Force Academy

A Note About USCGA

ImageA congressional nomination is not required for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy admissions process.

To learn more about their requirements, you can visit their admissions webpage or call 800-833-USCG (8724).

How to Apply

My office’s application period for Congressional Nominations is open through October 1, 2020.

ImageVisit my website for more information on eligibility, requirements, and the application process for a congressional nomination to the academies.

Because congressional nominations are highly competitive, it is to your advantage to apply to more than one academy.

I urge you to research the opportunities afforded by each of the Academies and visit their respective websites for more information on how to apply to the USAFA, USMMA, Westpoint, and USNA.

Applications for congressional nominations must be submitted to our District Office by Thursday, October 1, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted. If you have any questions about the application process, please contact Christa Burton at christa.burton@mail.house.gov or 301-354-1000.

All Best,
