Dear Neighbor,

As many households struggle to afford internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic, I want you to know that help is available through the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program that launched last week.

This program -- which Congress established when we passed our bipartisan emergency COVID-19 relief package in December -- will help eligible households across the 8th District and Maryland pay their monthly broadband bills.

If you qualify for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, you may receive:

  • A discount of up to $50 per month on your internet bill
  • A one-time discount of $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer
Open enrollment is underway now so please click here to see if you qualify and to enroll.

Do you receive Medicaid or SNAP benefits? Have you lost a job or has your income decreased in the last year? Does a student in your household receive a PELL Grant? If so, you probably qualify.

I urge you to check your eligibility and enroll today as assistance is only available until program funding runs out.

As the pandemic brought our nation's workers and children into a new era of remote working and virtual learning from home over the last year, access to affordable high-speed internet became a necessity for households across America. Rest assured, I remain committed to working with my colleagues in Congress and with the Biden Administration to improve broadband access and affordability for everyone.

As always, I encourage all 8th District residents to connect with me on  FacebookTwitter, or Instagram. If you need help with a federal agency and want to request assistance from my staff, please complete the online request form here, and my District Office will be in touch.

All Best,
