Last week I shared some of what I’m doing in Washington to combat the far-left policies that threaten the foundation of our democracy and our American way of life. But standing up for you isn’t just about the fight in Washington; sometimes, the fight is in our own backyard.

Earlier today I sent a letter to Union Pacific Corporation President & CEO Lance Fritz urging him to reconsider the company’s plan to effectively shut down its railroad car facility in Palestine. The decision to cut 57 family-wage jobs in our community comes after Union Pacific paid Mr. Fritz $16.6 million in 2020, an 11% raise over the year prior.

I’ve encouraged Mr. Fritz to reconsider and allocate adequate resources to our Palestine facility. But with layoffs scheduled for June 14, Union Pacific has a narrow window in which to do the right thing.

BREAKING NEWS ON COVID-19 ORIGINS

Evidence continues to mount supporting the possibility that the coronavirus responsible for killing over 600,000 Americans may have originated from a government-run laboratory in Wuhan, China. Liberals and the mainstream media alike ridiculed President Trump for suggesting this. Yet we know that even Dr. Anthony Fauci himself can’t rule it out. I joined Newsmax earlier this week to talk about this very issue.

Congressman Gooden: "If you recall a year ago, when President Trump said this thing came from China and we need to look into it, they said he was xenophobic. Remember, he was one of the first to say we need to close down the borders. He was basically called a neanderthal for thinking that way, but he was right.

"Move forward to now, it's obvious that there are some Chinese origins of this virus and we want to explore that. When Donald Trump wanted to explore that he was called a racist. And now that Joe Biden wants to potentially get to the bottom of it finally, we welcome him in that search, but the double-standard is just unbelievable."

"The main issue here is the Biden Administration is sending a message south of the border and around the world that the United States border is open. Go ahead and pay the coyote, pay the cartel, and come on up."
