Celebrating MLK Day in #12thDistrictStrong

Thank you to Redford Township, Livonia, Southfield, Westland, Dearborn Heights and other communities throughout the district for doing their part in uplifting the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. From honoring those among us who embody the spirit of Dr. King to marching and holding service projects, I was very proud of our district's incredible events.

Dr. King's fight for justice was rooted in love and liberation. He spoke of "the fierce urgency of now," noting that we cannot wait for change. It's this urgency we all should move with to ensure justice and equity for all. On MLK day and every day, we honor his memory and his legacy.

I also took the time to attend the city council meetings in Southfield, Beverly Hills, and Livonia where I learned so much about the concerns of many residents. I hope to continue to show up and offer any partnership to help ensure that every single resident in the 12th District has the resources they need.

This week, it was also an honor to have witnessed the swearing in of three new firefighters for our City of Southfield. Congratulations and thank you for your service to our communities!
