Dear Friend,

We are in the full swing of August District Work Period and I am so glad to be back in the 45th District! This week I had the pleasure of meeting with several different groups of constituents including the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce, Garden Grove business owners, and independent workers for Door Dash.

I also sent a letter to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona inviting him to tour an Orange County public charter school.

Get the details about all of this and more below, and make sure to follow my FacebookInstagram, and Twitter to get these updates in real-time.

A Well Deserved Honor

It was a pleasure to present the Congressional Gold Medal to Reema Dawar from Cerritos! Miss Dawar’s passion for service and dedication to her community is an inspiration. We are so blessed to have such amazing young people in Southern California!

I had a great tour of the Giving Farm, sponsored by Community Action Partnership of Orange County.

The Giving Farm, a farm-to-food bank program, allows Westminster high school students to learn about urban agriculture, gain vital nutrition education, and give back to their community. Thank you for all you do!

Keep on Dashing

I also met with some Door Dash Dashers. They told me about how they enjoy the ability to work on their own time & on their own terms. That's why I am working to protect gig work by fighting against CA's AB5 and the Pro Act that would take away their choice to do gig work.

School is in Session

I sent a letter to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona inviting him to visit a public charter school in Orange County.

During his hearing with the House Education and Workforce Committee in May, Sec. Cardona admitted that, to the best of his knowledge, he has yet to visit a public charter school during his tenure as secretary.

He also publicly committed to visiting a charter school, at my request.

As students return to school for a new year, it is time for Sec. Cardona to return to the classroom as well to witness for himself the high quality education afforded by public charter schools.

A Sweet Small Business Highlight

My team & I were pleased to recognize Rich Farm Ice Cream in Placentia as our Small Business Highlight! The name comes from a family farm that has become a successful ice cream franchise in Placentia & beyond. I'm proud to represent our small businesses in Congress!
