October 15, 2021

Dear Friend:

For the most part, I got to spend the last week meeting with some great constituent groups like Malecha Industries, Avon Plastics, the Lignite Energy Council, and the people of Marshall.

On Tuesday, I was back in D.C., voting on whether we were going to raise the debt ceiling. House Democrats have been unwilling to work with Republicans, and as a result, we are looking at several multi-trillion-dollar spending packages that serve to further the far-left agenda. The Democrats can pass a debt limit extension using their majority, since it is their policies and agenda that are requiring such increases to the debt limit.

I also cosigned a letter to President Biden, along with my fellow House Republicans, asking him to reverse his anti-American energy agenda. This Administration wants to kneecap American energy companies as part of a radical-left agenda, forcing us to lean on foreign adversaries. The price of fuel will continue to rise until this Administration puts American energy back in the hands of American producers.

As always, my office is open and ready to serve constituents of Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to help. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Around the District

Thank you to the Malecha family for hosting Sen. Westron, Rep. Franson, Pope County Commissioner Cody Rogahn, and me at their farm, Malecha Enterprises, in Villard. We had an important discussion on agriculture, workforce, and supply chain issues.

Sen. Howe, Rep. Demuth, and I took a tour of Avon Plastics in Paynesville. We also had a good talk with the company about business and economic development. Thanks for having me!

I was honored to speak at the memorial service for Earl Halvorson, USN. SFC Halvorson enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 days after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Sadly, he was killed in combat and lost at sea. It was only just recently learned when that actually took place. I worked with his family to replace his memorial headstone with a correct date of death. It was wonderful to meet his family, and especially his sister who was just 13 when he left home.

Coming Up

I'll be back in D.C. for a busy week. I have several Judiciary Committee hearings, including an oversight hearing with Attorney General Merrick Garland on the request for the FBI to investigate parents. I will also be finishing consideration of three bills from the Education and Labor Committee.

Thanks for reading!
