News from Representative Waltz

Dear Friend,

Thank you for reading my newsletter! My team and I continue to work for you and our community. It was a very eventful week and I’m excited to tell you about what we accomplished. Here are some highlights:

FIGHTING FOR SAFETY, JUSTICE AND EQUALITY: As a veteran, I fought for the principle that all people are created equal – and the fight for equality is one that continues to this day. While we have many police officers who are focused on making positive contributions and keeping people safe, recent events have shown us in many places, the bond between police and their communities needs repairing. To strengthen that bond, I’m co-sponsoring the bipartisan JUSTICE Act, which will promote stronger accountability for our law enforcement as well as provide enhanced training and measures to prevent police brutality.

IMPROVING MILITARY HOUSING: This week, I joined a bipartisan group of my colleagues in the House on a bill to improve military housing across the country. Our service members have risked everything on behalf of our freedoms. They should not have to worry about the health and welfare of their families while performing their duty in the service of our country. The Military HOMES Act creates basic uniform housing standards and inspections for all government-owned and controlled military housing. Our service members should have a safe place to call home – and this bill is an important step towards providing them with the housing they need.

SUPPORTING WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT: As a Green Beret, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of gender equality in building peace and security around the world. Where women thrive, extremism doesn’t – and I’m committed to ensuring women have not only a seat at the table but also a voice to help shape freer and safer societies. This week, the President’s Administration released its Implementation Plans for the Women, Peace and Security law, which will promote women’s inclusion worldwide. Fellow Florida Rep. Lois Frankel and I recently formed a congressional caucus to track this implementation. We’re very encouraged to see this issue strongly prioritized and are looking forward to more women’s inclusion in societies around the world.

As always, follow my daily work on social media by liking my Facebook page and following me on TwitterYouTube and Instagram and feel free to reach out to my offices in Florida or Washington, D.C. if my team or I can ever be of service.
