NEWS FROM WASHINGTON AND ACROSS WEST TEXAS

Dear Friend,

While it is below freezing across West Texas, things are heating up in Washington. Last night, President Trump highlighted the major successes our country has seen in his third State of the Union address to Congress and I was inspired by his optimistic vision for our nation. We need common sense solutions, not radical socialist proposals to address challenges such as lowering drug prices and reforming immigration. Today, we saw President Trump acquitted in the Senate and it is my sincere hope that Speaker Pelosi and her Democrat colleagues will put partisan politics aside to help the American people.

Below you will find a recap of last week and to ensure you're receiving the latest updates from Washington and across West Texas I encourage you, and all of our fellow West Texans, to follow me on Twitter and Instagram and like my page on Facebook.

State of the Union

Last night’s address outlined President Trump’s vision for a nation that works for all Americans, one that is illuminated by the light of freedom shining as bright as it’s ever shown. The Great American Comeback we are witnessing is empowering communities, unleashing unprecedented economic growth and unlocking the greatest potential of the American people. USMCA

I was recently at the White House for President Donald Trump’s historic signing of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The producers in the food, fuel, and fiber capital of the world and all across rural America are grateful for the $70 billion and 176K jobs that USMCA will add to our nation’s economy.

Protecting Religious Liberty

I recently met with Wayland Baptist President, Dr. Bobby Hall, and discussed religious liberties that are critical to our private education institutions. We also celebrated the induction of the WBU Flying Queens, who won 131 consecutive games, into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame!

"West Texas Chiefs'A big congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs, Red Raider and MVP Patrick Mahomes, and former Wylie Bulldog Ben Niemann on their Texas-sized Super Bowl win! They represent what West Texas is all about - hard work and determination! Patrick was the first QB from a Texas university to start in a Super Bowl and Red Raider nation couldn't be more proud.
