News from Representative Waltz

Dear Friend,

Thank you for reading my newsletter! My team and I continue to work for you and our community. It was a very eventful week and I’m excited to tell you about what we accomplished. Here are some highlights:

  • The China Task Force released its comprehensive report, laying out steps Congress must take to combat the threat of China
  • I signed a petition to release billions of unused Paycheck Protection Program funds to help our small businesses
  • I was promoted to Colonel in the U.S. National Guard

COMBATTING THE THREAT OF CHINA: COVID has been a much-needed wakeup call for America on the dangers of our dependence on China. This week, I joined the House China Task Force to release a comprehensive action plan for Congress to protect America against the threat of China. I’m proud my legislation to end the CCP’s espionage at our universities and my bills to bring home our critical supply chains were included in this report. Together, we must protect ourselves and put America first again!

SAVING OUR SMALL BUSINESSES: In March, Congress passed the Paycheck Protection Program to help keep businesses open and employees on payroll. In our area alone, the PPP helped over 11,000 small businesses, saving more than 83,000 jobs. Unfortunately, this program expired before the remaining loans could be distributed. Now, Speaker Pelosi is refusing to hold a vote on legislation to release $138 billion of unused Paycheck Protection Program funds.

There is no reason for this already-passed money to go nowhere. This is why I’ve joined a petition to force a vote to release these PPP funds, so our small businesses can receive the help they need to stay afloat. We all want our small businesses to survive and it’s critical we get this aid to them quickly, not continue to put it off.

24 YEARS AND COUNTING SERVING OUR GREAT NATION: I’ve been serving in the military for most of my life but last week, I was deeply honored and humbled to be promoted to Colonel in the U.S. National Guard. It is truly the calling of a lifetime to serve my country and every day I wake up grateful to do it, whether in the military or in Congress. I’m forever indebted to my family for standing beside me through it all and my fellow Green Berets for supporting me throughout the years

LISTENING CAN SAVE A LIFE: It is always wonderful when we hear stories of members of our community helping each other, especially in a time of need. We recently heard the story of Flagler Veteran Services Officer David Lydon, who saved a veteran’s life from suicide by being there for him during a crisis. The compassion and care David showed someone going through a rough spot was exactly what that veteran needed in that moment and saved his life. Flagler County and our country are better because of people like David!

CONSTITUENT SUCCESS STORY: Kevin Filo of Port Orange reached out to my office for help getting his loan funding fee reimbursed from the Department of Veterans Affairs. I’m happy to report, with help from my team, Kevin just received his refund!

HELPING YOU NAVIGATE THE FEDERAL BUREAUCRACY: Are you struggling to navigate federal bureaucracy? My office can help with the VA, a passport, Social Security, the IRS or any other federal agency. Click here for more information about how we can assist you or call one of my three district offices below:

Please follow my daily work on social media by liking my Facebook page and following me on TwitterYouTube and Instagram. As always, feel free to reach out to my offices in Florida or Washington, D.C. if my team or I can ever be of service.
