News from Representative Waltz

Dear Friend,

Thank you for reading my newsletter! My team and I continue to work for you and our community. It was a very eventful week and I’m excited to tell you about what we accomplished. Here are some highlights:

  • The Senate passed my legislation to award Sergeant First Class Alwyn Cashe with the Medal of Honor
  • Pfizer announced its COVID-19 vaccine has been more than 90% effective in preventing coronavirus infections
  • I reaffirmed my commitment to transparency in our elections process
  • I joined Hazard Ground’s Mark Zinno to discuss combat, survival and the lessons I learned while serving our country
  • On Saturday, the U.S. Space Force will swear in its first officer in space

HONORING SFC ALWYN CASHE: After 15 years of fighting for Alwyn Cashe to receive the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in Iraq in 2005, Cashe's family will finally receive formal recognition for his extraordinary bravery. On Tuesday, the Senate passed my bill with Reps. Stephanie Murphy and Dan Crenshaw to posthumously award Cashe the Medal of Honor. Cashe will be the first African-American to receive this award for heroic actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now this heads to President Trump for approval.

HUGE COVID VACCINE NEWS: This week, Pfizer announced its COVID vaccine has been more than 90% effective in preventing coronavirus infections. Pfizer is one of the participants in Operation Warp Speed and has been innovating quickly to deliver a vaccine for the American people. This vaccine is a critical step to saving hundreds of millions of lives and I am thankful to President Trump and his administration for prioritizing the production and distribution of this vaccine to the American people.

PROTECTING OUR ELECTIONS: Our elections are the foundation of our republic. As we await the results of our election, it’s important that every legal vote is counted. That count should be fully transparent to ALL observers, no matter their party affiliation. No illegal votes should count and all allegations of voting irregularities should also be taken to court and fairly adjudicated.

SERVING OUR GREAT COUNTRY: As a Green Beret and veteran, my main motivation in life both on and off the battlefield has been serving my country and defending our republic. While each veteran has a unique and different experience, our shared love of country and dedication to protecting our American way of life is woven through all of our stories. I recently spoke with Hazard Ground’s Mark Zinno about my journey in the military, working in the White House and most importantly, my time as your Congressman.

REACHING FOR THE STARS: This week marks a historic week for our U.S. Space Force as NASA astronaut and Air Force Colonel Mike Hopkins will be sworn in as the first officer in space. As our lives become increasingly dependent on our critical infrastructure in space, it’s important we adapt to protect our national security. Hopkins not only has a deep understanding of space but also of its impacts on our way of life and our national security. This is just the beginning of a new chapter for our Space Force!

CONSTITUENT SUCCESS STORY: After a mix-up with the Internal Revenue Service, Herbert of DeBary reached out to my office because he did not receive his stimulus funds in May. I'm happy to report my staff was able to fix the IRS' mistake and Herbert has since received his stimulus check!

HELPING YOU NAVIGATE FEDERAL BUREAUCRACY: Are you struggling to navigate federal bureaucracy? My office can help with the VA, a passport, Social Security, the IRS or any other federal agency. Click here for more information about how we can assist you or call one of my three district offices below:

Please follow my daily work on social media by liking my Facebook page and following me on TwitterYouTube and Instagram. As always, feel free to reach out to my offices in Florida or Washington, D.C. if my team or I can ever be of service.
