News from Congressman Arrington

News from Washington and Across West Texas

Dear Friend,

The political circus has come to Washington and, unfortunately, my colleagues across the aisle are continuing their battle to become the ringmasters. Fortunately, my work to bring West Texas values to Washington continues unabated as we move forward on better trade deals, health care reform, and securing our nation. For the latest updates, please follow me on Twitter and Instagram and like my page on Facebook.

Honoring our Veterans
This past Veteran’s Day, I was proud to walk alongside our outstanding veterans in the Key City as we celebrate those who were willing to risk everything for our freedom, our security, and our way of life. May God continue to bless our veterans and all of the men and women who give up their today for America’s tomorrow.

A Distinction Long Overdue
During my time in the District, I stopped by the offices of the Abilene Reporter-News to discuss the issues facing our region when the conversation turned to one of our most celebrated local heroes, William Edwin “Ed” Dyess. I was proud to provide an update on my office’s efforts to have Dyess honored with the Congressional Medal of Honor. A large packet of information has been presented to the Air Force so that a board can consider the merits of awarding this distinction to the namesake of our beloved Dyess Air Force Base.

The Crisis At The Border
Last week I joined The Evening Edit to discuss the ongoing violence on our southern border and how House Democrats obsession with impeaching President Trump is preventing Congress from acting to secure our border and protect American citizens. Irreparable Harm to Our Democracy
Last week, House Democrats hijacked our Ways and Means Committee hearing room for their political impeachment circus. Their obsession with removing President Trump has superseded any desire for lowering prescription drug prices for seniors, passing USMCA, and addressing an impending social security crisis.

Now, Washington bureaucrats are gearing up for week 2 of their never-ending, partisan sham. While Americans across the country wake up and go to work tomorrow, House Democrats will continue to waste taxpayer money on this impeachment inquisition against Donald Trump, which threatens to do irreparable harm to our institutions, the presidency, and our democracy.

Supporting Our Farmers & Ranchers
The second tranche of 2019 Market Facilitation Program payments aimed at assisting farmers suffering from damage due to unjustified trade retaliation will begin this week. Signup at local FSA offices will run through Dec. 6, 2019.

Getting Your Input On Rural Healthcare Challenges
Our nation depends on strong rural communities for its food supply and energy independence. That's why I'm proud to serve as a co-chair of the Ways and Means Rural Health Task Force, and I look forward to hearing more from our constituents and all of rural America so we can work together to develop sustainable solutions to health care challenges and support those living in America’s breadbasket and energy basin.

Last week, we officially began our request for information and want to get YOUR input on topics that affect health status and outcomes in rural America. Click here or on the image below to learn how to submit a comment before the December 29th deadline!
