District Update |November 30, 2020

Dear Friend,

I hope you and your family had a relaxing and safe holiday weekend. I wanted to share some updates and resources here with you as we head into the first week of December and the holiday season.

We are Here to Help You!

Every day our team is working with Arizonans who are experiencing issues working with Federal Agencies. I believe this work is my most important job as a Member of Congress, and I am fortunate to have an incredibly experienced team supporting Arizonans experiencing difficulties working with Federal Agencies.

Recently, our team helped Ms. Miller, a Fountain Hills resident, who finally received a direct deposit of $75,298.00 in back payment for her son’s SSDI benefits. After working with the agency for several years, we were able to help Ms. Miller in just 5 days!

If you, or someone you know, are having difficulty working with a Federal Agency, our office is here to help. Learn more about the casework services we can help with, and please always feel welcome to email or call us with any questions.

National Adoption Month Discussion

Image

This November we celebrated National Adoption Month, a very special time for our family. It is hard to believe it was just over five years ago we adopted our little girl, Olivia. In closing out this special month, I joined the Heritage Foundation for a discussion on adoption and foster case in America. During the event, I shared my family's connection to adoption, and the important work being done for children in foster care and adoption.

Economic Impact Payment Updates

Image

I wanted to share an update from the IRS and U.S. Treasury regarding Economic Impact Payments (EIPs). Beginning today, November 30, 2020, the IRS will no longer accept inquiries or requests related to missing or incorrect EIPs. Taxpayers who didn’t receive their EIP or received an incorrect EIP amount will be able to claim or reconcile any issues regarding their payments when they file taxes next year. This will be done through the newly created Recovery Rebate Credit which will be available when filing the 2020 Form 1040.

Anyone with outstanding EIP issues should file their taxes electronically in 2021 in order to receive their payment as quickly as possible. For additional information or questions on this, please visit my website
here, or feel welcome to call our office.

Holiday Scam Awareness

Image

This week is National Tax Security Awareness Week to encourage Americans to be aware of fraudulent scams and data hacks this holiday season. Hackers are constantly trying to find new ways to gather our information and data. It is important to be aware of these scams as we enter the final stretch of the year.

To learn more about each of the different types of hacking or scams out there, visit the IRS's website here

I appreciate you taking the time to read my weekly e-Newsletter. We hope that you and your family are continuing to stay healthy and well. If our office can ever be helpful for you, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Sincerely,
