Dear Friend,

This Wednesday, I will be hosting a telephone town hall event at 5:00pm to discuss the ongoing vaccine distribution process, and to provide any necessary updates for Arizonans. We will be joined by a Maricopa County Public Health official who will be available to answer questions you may have on COVID-19, the vaccine roll out, and any additional concerns.

Be sure to register before Wednesday here to receive a call for the event. I look forward to speaking with you all, and hope to address and solve any frustrations you may be experiencing during this process. As always, my office is here to help, please visit my website for additional resources.

Discussing the Facts on SALT Cap Repeal

Image

Last Thursday, I joined CNBC's Squawk Box to debate the State and Local Tax (SALT) deductions cap repeal with a Democratic colleague. It is critical that we help hard-working Americans and businesses in any future COVID-19 relief passed by Congress, whereas this repeal would largely benefit the top 1%.

Too many Americans are still unemployed and hurting from this pandemic. We must be focused on helping individuals safely return to work, and work on how we can support a strong economic recovery post COVID-19. To watch the full interview, click here.

Requesting Assistance for Arizona

Image

This week, I joined fellow Members of Congress in sending multiple letters requesting assistance for our state. First, I joined my Republican Arizona colleagues in writing a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in support of the State of Arizona’s request for an emergency infusion of 300,000 vaccine doses, and to increase doses weekly from the state's federal allotment. Too many eligible individuals are facing extreme frustrations with the entire vaccination process, and I am hoping this request will assist our brothers and sisters who have been patiently waiting. The second letter I sent was to the Department of Labor (DOL) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to raise awareness for fraudulent unemployment insurance claims ahead of this year's tax filing season. I have seen first-hand the multitude of fraudulent unemployment claims that have been requested throughout our community. This is a very serious issue happening not only in Arizona, but all across the country. We must work to ensure taxpayers will be protected from fraud and ensure bad actors are held accountable.
