Welcome to Catch Up With Young Kim, my weekly e-newsletter to get you the latest on my work for you in Congress.
Since I came to Congress, I've been fighting to bring common sense to Washington, break through the partisan gridlock, and get things done. I’m proud that my record shows my commitment to deliver results to California’s 40th district, while also sticking to my principles.
As we embark on this new year, I would love to hear from you and know what matters most to you in 2024. Share your thoughts and take my 2024 priorities survey below!
Serving you in Congress is not a role I take lightly. I’m working hard to pay it forward, so the American dream remains alive for future generations, including my grandkids, and yours.

Californians are struggling to make ends meet due to persistent inflation, tax hikes, and rising living costs.
I’ll always support initiatives to make life more affordable for my constituents. Read my statement on the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act.
Students deserve to have accurate information on college costs.
I'm thrilled my bipartisan bill to boost transparency and help families make informed decisions was added to Chairwoman of the House Education and Workforce Committee, Rep. Virginia Foxx's College Cost Reduction Act, which passed out of committee this week.
Making life more affordable for my constituents is a top priority. I'm proud to join Rep. Mike Lawler and colleagues from across the country to help fix the SALT cap hurting our constituents and bring relief for workers and families we represent.
I am concerned that the Basel III Endgame proposal will make credit more expensive for small businesses, reduce mortgage lending for low-income households, and put the U.S. at a competitive disadvantage abroad.
I'll keep fighting on the Financial Services Committee to support small businesses.
I met with San Bernadino County Fire Chief Dan Munsey and Division Chief Jim Topoleski in my DC office to discuss firefighter pay and retention challenges and the ROUTES Act, my bill to boost maintenance of federal trails.
Grateful for their dedicated work to protect our CA-40 communities!
There’s no question that Xi Jinping is looking to harness the power of emerging technologies like AI and quantum computing to integrate with military weapons.
I’m fighting to stop the flow of capital to the Chinese Communist Party.
Great to meet with Rabbi David Eliezrie in from Yorba Linda and the Jewish Federation of North American federations in my DC office!

I spoke at the House Committee on Natural Resources in support of the ROUTES Act, my bill to ensure we safely restore and reopen federal trails and sites in a timely manner.
As a representative of the Cleveland National Forest Trabuco District, I'll keep fighting to ensure our first responders have the tools to do their jobs.
Great to see Chino Valley Fire District Chief Dave Williams in my DC office to discuss bipartisan bills I’ve introduced to improve communications for first responders and expand available tools to fight wildfires. I am pleased to share a great opportunity for educators in CA-40 and our state: K-12 teachers and higher education faculty across the country can apply to attend professional development programs funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Selected educators will be able to develop new teaching methods while diving deeply into a humanities topic through one- to four-week residential, virtual, and combined format programs. This summer, NEH is offering 44 programs on a variety of humanities topics ranging from Shakespeare to the Space Age. Applicants will receive an invaluable experience for educators to deepen their understanding of the humanities and learn new ways to incorporate that knowledge into their teaching. The application deadline for all 44 programs is March 5.
