Dear Friend,

I hope you and your family enjoyed this Fourth of July weekend, celebrating our freedom and independence. Here is a review on my work last week for AZ-06.

New Legislation Introduced

Recently, I introduced several pieces of legislation that I wanted to update you on.

✔️ Earn to Learn Act – Bipartisan, bicameral legislation to reduce student loan debt,                and make college more affordable. This legislation is modeled after Arizona’s Earn to Learn Program, which has nearly a decade-long track record of helping underserved and underrepresented students access and complete a college education.

✔️ Expanding Employer-Sponsored Child Care Grants Act – Bipartisan legislation to help working parents afford child care services. This legislation would make subgrants available to employers to use for opening or expanding childcare programs or establishing partnerships with childcare providers.

✔️ User Data Protection Act – This legislation will ensure personal information is considered a property right, and prohibit digital platforms from using an individual’s information. As Big Tech continues to abuse their access to Americans’ personal information, it is important that our policies ensure Americans data is protected.

✔️ NEPA State Assignment Expansion Act, and NEPA Accountability and Enforcement Act – Too often we see government processes slowing down our ability to promote innovation and efficiency.  In coordination with Senator Mike Lee, Rep. Schweikert introduced two pieces of legislation to streamline the NEPA process and help important projects move forward quickly.

Roundtable Discussing Trade with Mexico & Canada

Image

I hosted a roundtable to celebrate the one year anniversary of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) going into force with leaders from the Mexican and Canadian consulate, and members of the Arizona Chamber. This modernized trade agreement has supported thousands of jobs in Arizona and help strengthen trade with our neighbors.

As a member on the Ways and Means Committee, I am continuing to work to create free and fair trade agreements that will support job and economic growth here in Arizona. Thank you to each of the members who joined this roundtable for a fascinating  conversation.

Important Update on Robocalls

Robocalls, scam texts, and emails have become an incessant aspect of many of our lives. The FCC recently announced a new authentication will be required across most telephone networks to require a phone call's ID to be legitimate and then validated by other carriers before connecting to the intended person.

I wanted to share this article with you on the recent update, and a link to the FCC's website for some consumer tips on how to avoid falling for dangerous scam tactics.
