News from Representative Allred

Dear Friend,

Earlier this week, I had the honor of joining local World War II Veteran Major John “Lucky” Luckadoo to celebrate Home Front Heroes Day, which honors the many Americans who worked on the home front to support the war effort during WWII and beyond. During WWII, ordinary citizens made sacrifices at home, rationed goods, collected scrap metal and joined the workforce to contribute to the war effort. That patriotic spirit lives on in the military spouses, families and individuals who make countless sacrifices to support the men and women who serve our country today.

Together with my fellow North Texan, Rep. Jake Ellzey, who I’ve worked with on legislation to fund construction of new VA facilities, I introduced a bipartisan resolution supporting the effort to designate May 9 as Home Front Heroes Day. Mr. Luckadoo has spearheaded the effort to establish this day in recognition of the support, work and sacrifice of everyone on the home front during World War II and I am proud to carry Lucky's mission forward.

Meeting with Mr. Luckadoo and celebrating our Home Front Heroes was a humble reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together as Americans. As a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee, I will continue to work with both parties to pass legislation that supports our troops, expands care and opportunities for veterans, and improves the quality of life for all North Texans.

Sincerely,
