News from Representative Larson

Dear Friends,

Yesterday I voted to pass the American Rescue Plan. This is the most significant piece of legislation since the New Deal that will provide the resources we need to overcome this virus and help Americans to return to their normal lives. The American Rescue Plan will put shots in people’s arms, money in people’s pockets, and provide relief for their communities and schools.

This $1.9 trillion plan benefits everyday working-class people, who have been hurt most by the pandemic.

As a member of the Ways and Means Committee we crafted provisions that give working families the financial relief they need to weather this pandemic. It includes $4 billion in economic impact payments for 1.5 million Connecticut families.

And in the First District alone, the final version of the American Rescue Plan will provide $212 million in state and local aid, as well as $244 million in education funding.  I am pleased the Senate adopted most of the House plan, though I am disappointed the provision to raise the minimum wage was removed, I will continue to fight for this necessary minimum wage increase.

These resources will have an enormous impact by getting people back on their feet and helping us crush the virus. There are many more beneficial provisions in the plan that I will continue to share with you over the next few weeks. More information can also be found at:
