Last week I joined East Hartford community leaders and Sifi Networks to celebrate the launch of the East Hartford FiberCity®, a revolutionary infrastructure project to bring a fast, affordable, and reliable all-fiber internet network to every home, business, and town-owned facility in East Hartford.

Every community, home, and business deserves access to fast, affordable, and reliable internet. High-speed connectivity is not a luxury but a necessity for commerce, education, and everyday life. That’s why I’m fighting hard to move forward both President Biden’s Build Back Better Act and the bipartisan infrastructure package. This is a once in a generation chance to invest in American families, businesses and our infrastructure.  

The bipartisan infrastructure package includes at least $100 million to expand broadband access to 27,000 Connecticut households. It also creates the Affordability Connectivity Benefit, to help low-income families afford internet access. In Connecticut alone, it could connect 654,000 people.
