Dear Friend:

It was a big week in Washington! House Republicans unanimously elected Mike Johnson to be Speaker of the House.

I worked with Mr. Johnson on the Judiciary Committee in the last Congress. He is a proven conservative, and I have no doubt that he will lead from a position of strength to move America’s priorities and values forward and fight against the Left's spending spree and extreme 'woke' priorities.

We have done important work this Congress – holding Joe Biden accountable, balancing our budget, and cutting unnecessary regulation – but we still have a lot to accomplish. I am proud to say that Speaker Johnson's first action was to pass a resolution declaring that Congress stands with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists.

The House Passes Another Appropriations Bill

This week, as we hit the ground running, the House also passed the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This bill bolsters funding for national security, energy security, and economic competitiveness. It empowers states to manage their waterways, taking a key step to ending the Biden Administration's Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule. It also cuts far Left priorities like funding that would advance Critical Race Theory and implementation of the Biden Administration's executive orders on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

This the fifth appropriations bill that has passed in the House. House Republicans are keeping their promise to responsibly fund the government and will continue to do so for the remaining seven appropriations bills.
