News from Representative Luria

Dear Friend,

Last month, I voted for the emergency COVID-19 relief package to bolster our national response to the pandemic. A key provision of this legislation provides Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) of up to $600 per eligible individual and $600 per qualifying dependent. Recently, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) published an FAQ webpage to help you track your payment. For more information, please see below.

Last week, the Treasury Department and IRS began issuing a second round of direct deposit EIPs, which may take several days to post to individual bank accounts. The IRS will also mail physical checks and pre-paid EIP debit cards this month. Last Monday, the IRS relaunched the Get My Payment tool for individuals to track their EIPs. Please note that because of high demand, the portal may be slower than usual.

If you have any questions regarding your EIP status, the IRS urges you to visit its website rather than call its office. IRS phone assistors do not have any information beyond what is available on IRS.gov.

Throughout this public health emergency, I have been fighting to get Coastal Virginians the relief they need. Last month, I voted for the Caring for Americans with Supplemental Help (CASH) Act, which would increase the second round of EIPs from $600 to $2,000.

Please know that my team and I stand ready to help our community during this time of need. For resources to help you and your family navigate through COVID-19, please visit our website. Please feel free to reach out to our offices via the phone numbers below if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
