'Ghost Gun' Crackdowns, The Impending Food Crisis, And More

Dear Neighbor,

I was back in the Sunshine State this week and enjoyed meeting with many of you to hear about the concerns most on your mind. Many of you told me that with calls from the White House and congressional Democrats to defund the police and crack down on the Second Amendment, public safety across the country is a top concern. You also told me about your concerns related to the removal of Title 42, which has led to a massive increase in illegal border crossings, with immigrants flown and bussed to every state in the nation.

The U.S. is now experiencing more crises than ever before under this administration, and with a food shortage looming due to rising fertilizer prices and ongoing supply chain issues, Floridians' and Americans' pockets are going to hurt even more than they already are. That's why my colleagues and I are fighting for you in Washington to tackle these issues and bring back pragmatic, sensible leadership to Congress.

On a lighter note, I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter this weekend as we come together to celebrate the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence. We also extend a Happy Passover to all who celebrate beginning this afternoon.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

In-Person Constituent Meetings Resume As The Capitol Begins To Reopens

Image

Last week, my team and I had several amazing constituent groups visit our office in Washington, D.C. after two years of meeting virtually. It was great sitting down with folks from Florida's Third Congressional District in-person to hear about the projects they're working on and the ways they are contributing to their local communities.

As the Capitol begins to reopen, we invite you and your family to visit your Capitol and your congressional office during a visit to our nation's capital. You can learn more about the experience we offer for folks from Florida's Third on our website below.

Increasing Fertilizer Prices As Supply Chain Issues Persist & Energy Costs Rise

Image

On Monday, I joined 96 of my colleagues in a letter to President Biden expressing outrage for our producers and demanding we increase our own fertilizer production to ensure we can feed our country. Fertilizer prices have risen 40 percent in just one month and are up 300 percent since this time last year. Between surging input costs, the highest inflation in 40 years, and unending regulatory whiplash, President Biden is failing our agriculture producers, accelerating a looming global food crisis, and jeopardizing our own food security and independence.

Talking Biden Crackdown On 'Ghost Guns' & Rising Crime Rates In NYC

Image

On Monday of this week, I joined Neil Cavuto on Fox Business to discuss the Biden administration's recent decision to crack down on "ghost guns." Unfortunately, what they fail to realize is that criminals don't follow laws anyway. I've talked to sheriffs and police chiefs up and down the Sunshine State who have noted this will only grow the government bureaucracy for law-abiding gun owners. And when it comes to our police, if you want a better, more well-trained police force, the solution is to fully fund our police. It really is that simple.

Reprioritizing China As A National Security Threat

Image

On Wednesday, I joined Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler and dozens of my colleagues in a letter to the DOJ and Attorney General Merrick Garland calling on the Justice Department to formally recognize the threat China poses to our national security. From intellectual property theft to attempts to falsify credible intelligence, the Chinese Communist Party continually undermines U.S. interests. It's past time this administration recognizes China as a global threat.

Recognizing National Public Safety
Telecommunicators Week

Image

The week of April 10th-16th marks National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, honoring emergency dispatchers for their commitment, service, and sacrifice to the profession. This week, my team and I are sending a big thank you to all of our emergency dispatchers across Florida's Third Congressional District as they work hard to make sure our first responders reach emergencies on-time, safely, and effectively.

Attending The Grand Opening Of Edward Jones Financial Services In Ocala

Image

This week, the Ocala Chamber & Economic Partnership and others celebrated the ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony for the Edward Jones Financial Advisor Colin Barrett! It's great to see so many businesses opening in Florida’s Third Congressional District, especially following closures related to COVID-19 lockdowns, inflation, supply chain issues, and more. I'm always appreciative of our dedicated, hardworking folks who work tirelessly to bring new opportunities to our area.
