SCOTUS News & Supporting Our Nation's Servicemembers

Dear Neighbor,

While I was at home in Florida's Third Congressional District this week leaked news from the Supreme Court sent shockwaves through Washington and across the country. This disgraceful leak presents a serious threat to our judicial system and should be investigated thoroughly.  As a staunch defender of life, I will always stand up for the unborn who cannot speak for themselves.

Meanwhile, amidst all the chaos out of Washington, D.C., my team and I honored our nation's essential workers & servicemen and women throughout the week, as we celebrated International Firefighters' Day, National Corrections Officers Week, National Small Business Owners Week, and National Teacher Appreciation Week. To all those in Florida's Third who fall under these categories, thank you for all that you do for our community. Next week marks the start to National Police Week, and I hope you'll stay updated with us on social media for all of the events in Washington, D.C. and back home.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

In Liberty,

Supporting Our Nation's Heroes Amidst The Worsening Border Crisis

Image

On Tuesday, I joined my colleague Rep. Steve Womack as a co-sponsor on the Veterans First Act of 2022 to stop the White House from diverting resources for our veterans to manage their self-inflicted southern border crisis. This is in response to the Biden administration's recent proposal of sending VA doctors and nurses to the southern border to help with the influx of illegals, instead of putting these resources where they belong: with our veterans.

It’s absolutely unconscionable that this administration would even think to send VA resources to the southern border to manage the crisis that Biden created. Any time our VA doctors are spending time away from their primary mission is unacceptable, and at a time when more veterans than ever are utilizing VA care, it is infuriating that this administration is willing to divert precious resources away from veterans and to illegal immigrants, all in the name of a political agenda. We must always put our veterans first.

Reacting to SCOTUS Leak & Pending Decision To Overturn Roe v. Wade

Image

As a Co-Chair of the House Pro-Life Caucus and someone with a very personal pro-life story myself, I will always stand for life and proudly defend this most fundamental right afforded to us in the United States. I continue to pray for the resolve of our Justices and will continue to work with my colleagues to stand for the precious right to life.

With that being said, the unprecedented leak of this draft Supreme Court decision is extremely dangerous, obstructing the core principles and independence of our legal system at the highest levels. As the Marshal of the Court launches an investigation into this leak, I hope this incident is the last of its kind, ensuring our Justices have every opportunity to uphold the Constitution without interruptions to their work in this case and all others.

Recognizing National Small Business Week

Image

This week we recognize National Small Business Week, and I'm so proud to recognize and celebrate the hundreds of small businesses across Florida's Third! For generations, small businesses across America have shaped and embodied our nation’s entrepreneurial spirit and driven our economy forward. From restaurants, retail, manufacturing, tech, shipping, and beyond, we're very fortunate to have small business leaders in North Central and Northeast Florida.

Discussing The Administration's Response To The Ongoing Border Crisis

Image

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security announced it would set up a "Disinformation Governance Board" to counter supposed misinformation online about the war in Ukraine, the border crisis, and beyond, but this raises serious questions about the role of government and free speech. Free speech is a fundamental right afforded to all Americans, and this plan will only turn into an Orwellian-style "Ministry of Truth," where the government attempts to be the arbiter of right and wrong.

We should all be concerned, and that's why I joined dozens of my colleagues in introducing the Protecting Free Speech Act, which will terminate this board and prevent any future federal funds from going to something similar. DHS should be focused on its other pressing issues—like the border crisis—instead of this nonsense.

April Telephone Town Hall Poll Results

Image

During last week's telephone town hall with constituents across Florida's Third, I asked what the impact of higher prices—from gas, groceries, everyday living expenses, and beyond—have been on families across our area. The numbers speak for themselves: more than half of those polled said they're spending upwards of $200+ more per month just to afford the basics.

This is truly unacceptable, and while the president and out-of-touch liberal elites laugh about rising prices and inflation, the rest of America cannot afford the impacts of their policies and growing government spending.

Visiting Del Zotto Steel & Concrete In Ocala

Image

Earlier in the week, I had the honor of visiting the team at Del Zotto Concrete Products in Ocala. Del Zotto has been an industry leader for over 50 years, building custom reinforced concrete forms and pour concrete, with several patented features including cover inner cores, mechanical and air stripping, and tapered aluminum pouring pans. We discussed supply chain challenges, government regulation, the costs of goods, and labor shortages, especially as inflation rises nationwide.

I'm so glad we have industry leaders in our region and look forward to spending more time with our talented manufacturers across Florida's Third Congressional District!

Celebrating International Firefighters' Day Back Home

Image

On Wednesday, I sat down with Clay County's own Chief Lorin Mock in Orange Park to celebrate International Firefighters' Day. We talked about emergency programs through FEMA and my role on the Homeland Security Committee, and how Northeast and North Central Florida are leading the way in public safety and emergency management.

As the proud wife to a firefighter myself, I'm grateful each and every day for our folks in Florida's Third Congressional District who run toward danger to keep the rest of us safe. If you know a firefighter, make sure to thank them for all they do.

National Day Of Prayer Celebration

Image

Wednesday celebrated National Day of Prayer, where Americans across the nation joined together in praying for the success of our nation and the wisdom for our leaders. On Wednesday morning in Marion County, my team joined dozens of community members for the National Day of Prayer celebration at Veterans Park in Ocala. We prayed for our country and the safety for our servicemen and women deployed here at home and across the world.

AERO Aggregates Grand Opening In Ocala

Image

On Thursday, I had the opportunity to speak to students at Clay High School, sharing with them about my journey from homelessness to the House of Representatives and my work in Congress. I encouraged the students to follow their passions and everything else will fall into place—I also passed out pocket Constitutions and encouraged students to play an active role in their communities and the civic process!

It was a joy to be joined by folks from the Green Cove Springs Police Department, Clay County, and one of our Orange Park interns and Clay High Senior President Matthew Mitchell.

North Central Florida Congresswoman, Kat Cammack, Reacted To The Possible Overturning Of Roe v. Wade (WCJB)

A Supreme Court draft leaked that would seem to allow states to gain the power to regulate abortion laws. "I think for anyone who is a champion of human rights, it is an incredibly encouraging and monumental win." Third District House member Kat Cammack, says her mother was encouraged to abort her before birth but didn’t and this is one of many factors that led her to support possibly overturning Roe v. Wade.
