Rising Gas Prices, Gun Control Bills & More

Dear Neighbor,

This week while I was in Washington, D.C., gas prices reached an all-time high. According to Triple A, the national average for a gallon of gas today is $4.986, just cents away from hitting $5.00. As inflation continues to take its toll and prices gradually increase around the country, Americans are struggling to pay for daily expenses. Just this week, economists predicted that if oil prices reach $150/barrel, a recession will hit, inevitably devastating the nation. It's time to unleash our domestic capabilities by making the United States energy independent again and relieving Americans of these crippling costs.

Additionally, as Democrats continue to fight for gun control in the name of public safety, it's perfectly clear that their radical measures do little to stop criminals, and instead punish law-abiding citizens who lawfully exercise their Second Amendment rights. Stripping Americans of their God-given right to keep and bear arms does nothing but make our communities less safe.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

Commemorating The 78th Anniversary Of D-Day

Image

78 years ago from this past Monday, brave American men faced one of the most dangerous battles of World War II, staring down German troops on the beaches of Normandy, France. Their fidelity, valor, and sacrifice are a reminder of the extraordinary courage and heroism it took to turn the tide of the Second World War. May we always remember June 6 and Operation Overlord, paying tribute to those who fought and died for freedom.

"They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

Reacting To Biden's Handling Of The Ongoing Baby Formula Crisis

Image

Earlier this week, I joined Newsmax to discuss Biden's reaction to the baby formula crisis and the Abbott factory finally reopening. Recently, during a virtual meeting with executives of baby formula manufacturers, Biden admitted he wasn't aware of the severity of the shortage until the beginning of April, a fact that should anger millions of American parents. With the Abbott plant finally resuming production of baby formula, it's long past time families begin to feel relief.

Demanding Answers From Biden About The WHO

Image

On Monday, I joined a letter with my colleagues to the White House, demanding answers about Biden's decision to reverse the Trump administration's plan to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO). It's true that the United States should withdraw from the WHO and this administration should work to overhaul the organization's operations, not give it more power. The COVID-19 coverup, corruption in confronting the Chinese role in the virus, and an incapable response to global health emergencies are just the start of reasons to withdraw.

Meeting With Southeast Milk, Inc. During National   Dairy Month

Image

On Tuesday, leaders from Southeast Milk, Inc. stopped by our House office to say hello during a trip to Washington, D.C. President Joe Wright and Brittany Thurlow shared more about the farms that make up Southeast Milk—North Florida Holsteins, Cypress Dairy, Glo-Crest, and Cindale Farms. As the lone Florida Republican on the House Agriculture Committee, it's always a joy to meet with our producers and hear about the important work they do for Florida and the nation. Plus, it's National Dairy Month—the perfect time for their visit!

Calling Out Biden's Claims About Inflation As Gas Prices Near $5 National Average

Image

Just last week, Biden tweeted that "fighting inflation" is his top economic priority. Yet, gas prices are the highest they've ever been, and economists are predicting that $5/gallon nationwide is right around the corner.

Here are the facts: gas prices have risen astronomically since Biden took office. This isn't "Putin's Price Hike," this is the administration shifting blame for the out-of-control government spending that Democrats have championed. People in Florida's Third Congressional District are struggling to choose gas over groceries, and this is unacceptable.

Debunking Myths About H.R.7910, The "Politics Over Kids Act"

Image

On Tuesday night before members of the House of Representatives voted on H.R. 7910, the "Politics Over Kids Act," I broke down some of the myths the Left is pushing about these bills. While it's easy to debunk each of these bills with basic statistics and reason, the simple fact is this: Democrats want to strip law-biding Americans of their Second Amendment rights, and each of these eight bills does exactly that.

Pressing The VA On Failed Veteran Care

Image

After the OIG report was published about a June 2020 incident in which the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville failed to provide emergency care to a veteran at that tragically resulted in the veteran's death, I joined Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott in sending a letter to the VA pressing them on their negligence in this case. Our nation’s veterans have served their country honorably. They should not have to worry about gross incompetence and negligence when they seek care, especially in emergency situations where timely, efficient, and effective care is vital.
