Addressing Democrats' Failed Policies Across The Board

Dear Neighbor,

After another long week of bringing attention to this administration's failed policies, things seem to keep getting worse for our country. While I was in Washington, D.C. this week, my team and I were hard at work addressing the House Appropriations Committee, FEMA, and more on the various problems caused by the Biden administration. Even as inflation continues to reach record highs, with more than two-thirds of economists this week predicting a recession in the very near future, radical Democrats introduced a bill that will increase food and fuel costs.

If the last eighteen months of this administration have taught us anything, it's that the far-left agenda is overwhelmingly failing the American people, and a change in leadership is desperately needed. That's why it's so important that Republicans return to fact-based, common-sense solutions to ensure the American people don't feel hopeless forever.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

Addressing Supply Chain Issues For Electric Municipalities In Florida

Image

On Monday, members of the Florida Congressional Delegation joined me in a letter I sent to FEMA about supply chain challenges for electric cooperatives and municipalities. In Florida where hurricanes and natural disasters are all too common, we can't wait for another disaster to strike when it's already too late. Especially considering that hurricane season has already begun, I was glad to join Rep. Al Lawson on this effort.

Recognizing National Flag Day

Image

Tuesday, June 14th marked National Flag Day, the day in 1777 when the U.S. approved the design for the first American flag. As a symbol of freedom, liberty, democracy, and hope around the world, the flag stands as our nation's most sacred representation of what it means to be an American.

May Old Glory ever wave!

Calling Out The Biden Admin's Use Of FEMA Funds At Southern Border

Image

Earlier in the week, I joined the Faulkner Focus to discuss how FEMA diverted millions of dollars in funds, originally meant for individuals at risk of homelessness, to the southern border to aid illegal immigrants. It is past time to call a spade a spade and call what we're seeing at our southern border a crisis. Money diverted from emergency preparedness, hurricane season, and homelessness going to managing the crisis they created is this administration in a nutshell.

Celebrating 247 Years Of The U.S. Army

Image

On Tuesday, my team and I celebrated the 247th birthday of the U.S. Army. For more than two centuries, the brave men and women of the United States Army have worked hard to bravely defend our nation through a variety of conflicts, protecting the freedoms and values we hold dear. On this day especially, we extend an extra thank you to our men and women in the U.S. Army, and recognize the 247 years they have spent protecting our nation.

Honoring UF President Dr. Fuchs On Gator Day

Image

On Tuesday afternoon, members of UF leadership were in Washington, D.C. for this year's Gator Day. I presented Dr. Fuchs with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of his service to UF during his tenure and a Congressional Proclamation honoring his work for the University. Congratulations on a wonderful career, Dr. Fuchs, and we look forward to our remaining months together with you at the helm! As always, Go Gators!

Blasting Democrats' Bill Proposing Increased Food & Fuel Costs Amidst Record-High Inflation

Image

Yesterday, I stood up against Democrats on the House Floor and and fought their ridiculous bill, the "Higher Food and Fuels Act." This bill will increase our fuel and food costs significantly. What it does is add more "special investigators, rules, fees, and regulations to our nation’s farmers and ranchers."

At a time when Americans are paying more for everything—gas, groceries, energy, and beyond—that we want more regulation, it's truly baffling to see how my colleagues across the aisle want more government intervention. If the last year and a half of this administration has taught us anything, it's that a big-government, one-size-fits-all, spend-into-oblivion approach will not work. In fact, it's the last thing the American people want.

Requesting Relief For Farmers By Restoring Specialty Crop Insurance

Image

Yesterday, I sent a letter to the House Appropriations Committee along with members of the Florida Delegation about the need for relief for specialty crop insurance policies and the producers they support. Recently, crop insurance for specialty crops has experienced a nearly 40 percent cut nationwide, with Florida among the top five states to be hit hardest. This is an issue that requires urgent attention by the House Appropriations Committee, and I'm proud to lead this letter with my colleague Rep. Darren Soto.
