Life Takes Center Stage

Dear Neighbor,

It was a busy last week of legislative session before a break for the July 4th holiday. Today's landmark Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson affirmed the undeniable value of life, and the protection and respect for all unborn children. For nearly half a century, the unborn have been stripped of their most quintessential right—the right to life. Today, we celebrate this historic moment and this issue being returned to the states where it belongs.

Additionally, yesterday marked the 50th anniversary since Title IX was passed, a federal civil rights law that establishes equal funding for men and women's sports programs. However, for far too long, women have been placed on the back-burner, stripped of trophies and titles at the hands of biological males competing in their categories.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

SCOTUS Decision In Dobbs v. Jackson

Image

The monumental news in Dobbs v. Jackson is historic. Since the founding of our nation, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness have been key tenets in the United States, and today’s news has solidified our most basic right—the right to life. For the most vulnerable among us, this decision affirms the undeniable value of life and the protection and respect for all unborn children. This is a historic day. Life wins!

Recapping Recent Trip To Southern Border

Image

Earlier this week, I joined Newsmax to discuss my recent trip to the Southern Border with the Select Committee on the Economy and members of Florida's law enforcement community today to see the crisis firsthand. We met with the Homeland Security Investigations team in McAllen, TX, an elite group of investigators and special agents assigned to preventing crime occurring in South Texas.

They told us about the cartels and traffickers' crimes which have grown in intensity as more than 240,000 illegals crossed the border in May alone. It's complete madness, and this crisis has been getting worse everyday since Biden took office back in January of 2021.

Meeting With The International Dairy Foods Association

Image

On Wednesday morning, I had a great meeting in our D.C. office with folks from the International Dairy Foods Association, which represents some of Florida's and the country's dairy producers. The IDFA represents the nation's dairy manufacturing industry, supporting more than 3.3 million jobs and generating $41.6 billion in direct wages. Together, their membership represents 90 percent of the dairy products sold throughout the world.

As the lone Florida Republican on the House Agriculture Committee, I'm always grateful for the opportunity to meet with our local industry leaders. Thanks again to the IDFA for stopping by!

Fighting To Protect Women's Sports On The 50th Anniversary Of Title IX

Image

Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of Title IX and the landmark opportunity for women to compete in women's sports. During a roundtable discussion with my GOP colleagues, we heard from a number of college athletes who competed against biological males, losing the opportunity to place or on major accolades. We will fight to protect women's sports and ensure they have an opportunity to compete.

You can listen to my comments at both the roundtable and press conference by visiting my YouTube Channel at the button below.

Talking Senate Gun Grab, Biden's Gas Tax Holiday & More On Facebook Live

Image

Earlier in the week, I went live on Facebook to break down the Biden legislative agenda for the week. In the past few days, Democrats have been hell-bent on passing their gun-grabbing legislation, stripping Americans of their Second Amendment rights. Additionally, Biden announced a "gas tax holiday" aimed at relieving costs at the pump, despite the fact that it will only save Americans roughly $7 on average over the span of three months.

Recognizing Religious Freedom Week

Image

This week we recognize National Religious Freedom Week and the guaranteed right to religion enshrined in the First Amendment. Here in the U.S. we're tremendously lucky to practice any religion we choose without persecution. To those of all religions, may we never take for granted this fundamental right that the U.S. Constitution protects and guarantees to all Americans.
