The End Of 'Remain In Mexico' & Its Impact On The Border Crisis

Dear Neighbor,

Following last week's pro-life victory, the Supreme Court delivered disappointing news after allowing the Biden administration to terminate the Trump administration's 'Remain in Mexico' policy. During the worst crisis at our southern border in American history, there are very few measures that allow our agents to do their jobs. Now that this tool—'Remain in Mexico'—is gone, this wholly preventable crisis is about to get a lot worse.

On a lighter note, despite the House being in recess, I flew up to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday afternoon to give a tour of the Capitol to some schoolchildren from Florida! It was so great seeing their smiling faces as they explored the People's House, and I was especially glad to have my own nephew as part of the group. Thanks to all the chaperones who made this trip possible!

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

Giving Florida School Group A Tour Of The Capitol

Image

On Wednesday, I flew up to Washington, D.C. to give my nephew's school groups a tour of the Capitol! These students have worked hard all year as officers of their safety patrol and were in D.C. for a visit to several monuments, museums, and landmarks. I met them on the steps of the Capitol and then showed them inside Statuary Hall, the Capitol Rotunda, and the Crypt!

It was so great seeing all these young faces from Florida, including my own nephew, Reese! You can watch a short video of their experience touring the Capitol here or by clicking the button below.

Sharing Personal Pro-Life Story After SCOTUS Ruling In Dobbs v. Jackson

Image

Earlier this week, I joined Fox & Friends to share my personal pro-life story following the Supreme Court's ruling in Dobbs v Jackson. After having a stroke before giving birth to my older sister, doctors told my mother she would never be able to have children safely again. When she became pregnant with me, doctors advised her to terminate the pregnancy, but instead, she courageously chose life. Today, I celebrate my mother's decision to have me, even when others said she should have an abortion, and I consider the Supreme Courts overturning of Roe v. Wade a personal victory.

Recapping Recent Trip To Southern Border

Image

A few weeks ago, my colleagues from the Select Committee on the Economy and I visited McAllen, TX and took a tour of the Rio Grande River with Texas DPS. While there, we saw popular crossing routes migrants use to get into the U.S., with human traffickers' discarded wristbands in the brush. This is a crisis of epic proportions and the administration has done absolutely nothing to protect our national security or the American people. Their lack of action in preventing the open advertisement for human smuggling and trafficking services is deplorable.

Reacting To SCOTUS Decision On 'Remain In Mexico' Immigration Policy

Image

Yesterday, the Supreme Court ruled that the Biden administration can end the 'Remain in Mexico' policy that allowed DHS to release migrants to Mexico while awaiting their hearings in the United States. To say I’m disappointed in the Supreme Court ruling is an understatement. I’m frustrated that this administration can continue with their utter disregard for our national security, American lives, and the agents doing the impossible task of managing the influx of migrants pouring across our borders. During the worst crisis at our southern border in American history, there are very few measures that allow our agents to do their jobs and process the millions of illegal immigrants who have crossed our borders since Biden took office, and now that tool—'Remain in Mexico'—is gone.

Following the ruling, I joined Newsmax to react. You can watch my full interview here or by clicking the button below.

Agriculture Committee Hearing On Barriers To Production

Image

Last Friday, the House Agriculture Committee Republicans hosted a roundtable to discuss barriers to domestic production and family farms across the country. Soaring fuel prices, skyrocketing input costs, and labor challenges were top of mind during this roundtable. We also talked about why the loss of the stepped-up basis would be so detrimental to family operations, forcing many of them out of business with enormous tax burdens.

Thanks to the members of the committee and those we heard from during our conversation.

Meeting Florida's Gold Star Families

Image

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to meet Gold Star families from all across the Sunshine State. I met the family of Staff Sergeant Seth Michael Plant, a native of Florida's Third Congressional District and the Starke area who was killed tragically last month while stationed in Alaska. Our Gold Star families represent the true meaning of service and sacrifice, losing loved ones who have bravely served our country and given everything they had for the freedoms and liberties we cherish today.

I want to thank Lori C. and Keith H. for organizing this event and dozens of others for hero families in Florida. On behalf of folks in North Central and Northeast Florida, thank you.

Gainesville Natives Visit Washington, D.C.

Image

Last week, the Hutchinson Family from Gainesville visited Washington, D.C. and stopped by our office for a Capitol tour! Eric is a deputy with one of our local sheriff’s offices and works hard to keep our community safe. It was our honor to show our folks from Florida's Third Congressional District around, and I can't wait to see them back home in Gainesville!

Rep. Cammack To Newsmax: Blame Biden For 'Uncontrollable' Migrant Surge At Southern Border (Newsmax)

The chaos at the United States-Mexico border could reach unprecedented heights, warns Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., now that the Supreme Court has permitted the Biden administration's repeal of a Trump-era border order (by a 5-4 decision), dubbed the "Remain in Mexico" policy.
