Questioning Democrats' Absurd Border & Abortion Policies

Dear Neighbor,

This week while I was back in Washington, D.C, I was hard at work fighting back against Democrats' woke policies. Just today, I took to the House Floor during debate to blast the Left's policy proposing abortion on-demand, even after SCOTUS ruled that the issue should be left to the states to decide.

Additionally, I joined dozens of my colleagues in calling out the administration for its failed border policies. Just today, I signed Representative Carlos Gimenez's bill that seeks to codify Trump's "Remain in Mexico" policy into federal law, and I also joined Senator Marco Rubio's letter to the USDA that addresses drug smuggling via the agriculture industry. This crisis is the direct result of Biden's disastrous policies, and it's way past time that Republicans regain control of the House so we can implement commonsense measures and secure our southern borders.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

Discussing Recent Victory On Abortion Front

Image

Earlier this week, I sat down with Sean Spicer on Newsmax to discuss the recent Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson. The Left thinks the top issue this fall is abortion, automatically translating to support for their point of view, but they fail to realize the Biden administration's war on American families is the priority for the American people. Just this week, inflation reached a record-high 9.1 percent, soaring even faster than economists predicted. Joe would do well to get his head out of the sand in time for November, or the red tsunami may do it for him.

Meeting With Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb Smith

Image

On Wednesday, Florida Farm Bureau Federation President Jeb Smith and John Walt Boatright stopped by during their trip to Washington, D.C. As we prepare for the 2023 Farm Bill, the folks at Florida Farm Bureau are working hard on behalf of Florida's farmers, ranchers, and producers to keep the Sunshine State's agricultural industries strong. It's always great having our Farm Bureau leaders stop by to discuss this important legislation!

Addressing Campaign Finance Law With The FIRE Act

Image

This week, I joined Rep. Pat Fallon in co-sponsoring his bill, the Family Integrity to Reform Elections (FIRE) Act. This bill stops politicians from funneling campaign dollars to their family members. Americans should feel confident that the people elected to represent them do just that, not profit off of their positions.

Unveiling New Florida Statue In Honor Of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune

Image

Florida has a new statue in Statuary Hall! Mary McLeod Bethune is the first black woman to be commissioned to represent a state. Dr. Bethune was a pioneer in education and public service, opening a school for black children in 1904, which later became Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach. On Wednesday, the Florida delegation attended the statue's unveiling, where it will sit with other state figures in the U.S. Capitol.

To all our folks from Florida's Third, you can stop by to see the new statue and all others on a Capitol tour. Visit our website here for more information, or click the button below.

Requesting Update On Drug Smuggling In Letter To USDA Sec. Vilsack

Image

Yesterday, I signed Senator Marco Rubio's letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack urging the USDA to follow through on its commitment to report on drug smuggling via fruit and vegetable imports from Mexico. Drug smuggling in food shipments from Mexico is systemic, and growers in Mexico are routinely extorted by drug cartels. In February of this year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized $2.9 million of methamphetamines, which were found in a shipment of onions from Mexico.

This is just one among many instances of deadly drugs being found in produce shipments from Mexico.

Defending States' Right To Secure The Border

Image

This morning, I joined Congressman Jodey Arrington and dozens of my colleagues and law enforcement officers for a press conference about states' rights to secure the border. When the Biden administration has failed to act, states are stepping up to defend the border and protect their citizens.

In Florida, drugs wash up on our shores. In Florida, flights land in the middle of the night to drop migrants off in our communities. In Florida, we're not immune to this crisis. It has to end.

Blasting House Democrats Over Lies & Abortion On-Demand Policies

Image

Today, I took to the House floor to blast Democrats for their blatant lies and abortion on-demand policies. It's ridiculous that we even have to argue over whether or not it should be a right to knowingly and intentionally end the life of another human being. Yet, Democrats will continue to peddle their dangerous narratives, claiming that Republicans are the ones with the extreme ideology on this issue.

As someone with a very personal story on this issue, I will always stand up for the right of the unborn and all humans, no matter their race, gender, class, religion, or disability to live out their lives.
