The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 118th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
Remembering the Great Russell Pierce
On the House Floor, I honored the life and legacy of constituent, colleague, patriot, and friend Russell Pearce of Arizona’s Fifth Congressional District.
Of course, Russell is best known for his work in the Arizona State Legislature. In 2008, he ran to represent north Mesa in the Arizona State Senate, handily winning both his primary and general election contests.
Russell first answered the call to serve in 1965 when he joined the Arizona National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict. He served honorably until 1972, and in the interim, he joined the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office after being sworn-in as a Deputy Sheriff in 1970.
While Russell Pearce’s professional and political legacy is truly unmatched, it is only outshined by his love of God and service to his church, his loyalty to the country he loved, and most importantly the beautiful family that survives him – his wife LuAnne, his five children, and his thirteen grandchildren.

Tele-Town Hall Recap
Yesterday, I hosted a tele-town hall with several thousand constituents. I provided updates on the debt ceiling fight, the invasion at the southern border, and 118th House Republican priorities. I also answered a wide range of questions from constituents.

Protecting American Energy from the Biden Regime
Today, I joined his colleagues to pass H.R. 21, the Strategic Production Response Act, which would prevent President Biden from misusing the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), and ensure that the Administration has to develop a plan to increase domestic energy production before drawing down oil from the SPR in the future. I also introduced the Strategic Petroleum Response and Implementation Act, which would require that this plan is being implemented before any Administration can draw on our oil reserves.
The Biden Regime’s relentless war on American energy must come to an immediate halt. The Biden Regime has decimated America’s domestic energy production and has no plan to rebuild our supply. That’s unacceptable.
The SPR was never put in place to bail out failed energy policies or to sell oil to adversaries like Communist China. My legislation ensures that rogue Administrations do not exploit these limited fuel reserves and allows for enhanced energy and economic security.
Earlier this year, I reintroduced two pieces of legislation to tackle inflation through domestic energy production and to stimulate more production. They may be read below:
H.R. 98, the Federal Land Freedom Act, would allow states to take over responsibility for energy development on federal lands within the borders of their states.
H.R. 110, the FUEL Reform Act, would eliminate the Renewable Fuel Standard, the biofuel mandate currently established in law, which artificially inflates the cost of gasoline.
Navy Seal Presentation
Yesterday, the U.S. Navy Liaison office presented me with a Navy seal. I’d like to thank Captain Kyle Gannt and his team for stopping by the office and chatting about how my office can be of assistance to the Navy.
I am eternally grateful for the heroic men and women serving in the U.S. Navy, and every branch of our military. They make our country safer each day.

My annual Drop Zone event is coming up! Drop Zone 2023 will occur on Saturday, May 13 from 10 am to 2 pm at the American Leadership Academy, Applied Technologies, located at 7729 East Pecos Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212.
Drop Zone is the one-stop shop for all veterans. You’ll be able to access health screenings, taxpayer advocates services, community support groups, and much more.

My America First Contract
House Republicans will need to immediately reverse the Democrats’s disastrous policies to get our country back in good shape.
My America First Contract is an outline to reduce inflation and strengthen the economy, secure our border, restore transparency and parental choice in education, reduce violent crime and preserve the rule of law, restore election integrity, break up Big Tech, put America First in foreign, energy, and trade policies, and reinstate good government practices.
In addition to achieving these eight goals, the plan calls on conducting enhanced oversight and using available leverages to stop the abuse of power from President Biden in 2023. I will introduce legislation supporting each area of the plan within the first 100 days of the next Congressional term and will work with my colleagues to bring that legislation up for consideration in the House.

Definition of the Week
This week, it was revealed that immigration authorities encountered 17 illegal aliens on the terror watch list at our southern border in December.
Since the beginning of the fiscal year in October, immigration officials have encountered 38 illegal aliens on the terror watch list.
The terror threat at the southern border is legitimate and the Biden Administration continues to reject the 9/11 Commission’s national security recommendations.
As evidenced by the horrific events that transpired on September 11, 2001, it only takes a handful of bad actors to inflict catastrophic damage on the nation.
Inspired by the Biden Administration, here’s the definition of the week:
17: Not a high enough number of terrorists for the Biden Administration to be concerned.
