The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 118th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.

Biden’s Unilateral Land Grab in Arizona

This week, Joe Biden visited our great state of Arizona to announce a new federal land grab near the Grand Canyon. This unilateral designation will lock up our nation’s largest uranium deposit without cause and force further dependence on Russia for energy supplies.

Biden’s proposed monument lacks common sense and is meant only to appease radical environmentalists. In January of this year, I introduced H.R. 96, the Protecting Arizona from Federal Land Grabs Act, which would have prevented Biden’s designation. Congress must act to reverse this harmful decision and to prevent this Administration, or any future Administration, from taking unilateral action to place new restrictions on land in the West.

The Protecting Arizona from Federal Land Grabs Act can be read here.

The Ongoing Investigation into the Biden Family Crime Syndicate

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer released a third bank memo detailing payments to the Biden Family from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine. This release is the latest piece in the ongoing investigation that corroborates Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s corrupt foreign business deals.

Joe Biden repeatedly lied to the American people about his involvement in Hunter’s business dealings. The Oversight Committee will continue to dig for the answers being covered up by the Bidens and our corrupt Justice Department. The Biden Family won’t be able to hide from House Oversight.

You can read more about the bank memo here

Subcommittee Hearing on Biden’s Border Crisis

I co-chaired a joint subcommittee hearing in Sierra Vista, AZ, titled “Biden’s Border Crisis and its Effect on American Communities.” I traveled to the border with my colleagues from the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance and the Oversight Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs. We saw firsthand how local law enforcement is overworked, underfunded, and under siege from a wave of illegal immigration, crime, and narcotics.

While we were at the border, we had the opportunity to meet with local law enforcement and a local rancher to hear about the ways that Biden’s failed border policies have impacted their communities. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office explained what local law enforcement is up against as they battle the scourge of cartel-driven activity in their community.

I am incredibly thankful for the brave men and women who put their lives on the line daily to protect border communities, but they shouldn’t have to do it alone. Joe Biden and Secretary Mayorkas must fulfill their duty to protect American communities from the dangers of illegal immigration. We must close the border.

Subcommittee Hearing on Federal Response to Natural Disasters

I joined an Oversight Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce field hearing to conduct oversight of federal response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian. My colleagues and I were able to speak with federal officials about the importance of effective relief efforts in the wake of natural disasters, and heard directly from disaster survivors about their challenges receiving assistance.
