The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 118th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.

Conducting Oversight Over the Department of Veterans Affairs

This week, I sent a letter to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Denis R. McDonough to conduct oversight over concerns that the VA may be severely undercounting veteran suicide rates. A September 2022 interim report from America’s Warrior Partnership (AWP) indicates that the veteran suicide rate from 2014-2018 may be 37% greater than what was reported by the VA. My letter requests answers from the VA concerning the discrepancies between the data reported by AWP and the VA’s data.

The brave men and women who have made the sacrifice to selflessly serve our nation deserve only the best care once they fulfill their duties. The VA should always ensure that our veterans receive the caliber of care to which they are entitled. This begins with sound data collection and reporting.

The large discrepancy in reported data of veteran suicide rates raises concerns that veterans are not receiving the help they are promised by the VA. Incorrect data can lead to misallocation of resources in veteran care and reduced effectiveness of VA programs. I am committed to safeguarding the health of our nation’s veterans through oversight of the federal agency tasked with their care. I am thankful to my colleagues for their support on this letter, and I look forward to answers provided by the VA about this important issue.

Cosigners of the letter are: Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL), Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NY), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), Rep. Calling for Accountability from Secretary Mayorkas

Rep. Chip Roy and I sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas concerning reports of US taxpayer-funded migrant camps. Recent reports indicate that the US federal government has been using taxpayer dollars to fund San Vicente Camp, a temporary shelter and processing center for US-bound migrants, in Panama. The letter demands answers from Secretary Mayorkas regarding the use of taxpayer dollars to fund foreign migrant camps.

If taxpayer dollars are being used to fund illegal immigration, Congress must put a stop to it. Our national security is at stake.

The letter may be read here.

Battling Corruption in the Department of Justice and Beyond

A grand jury in Fulton County, GA, handed down Donald Trump’s fourth indictment earlier this week. This indictment is simply another stunt to continue the political persecution of Donald Trump and others standing against the Biden regime.

This week’s indictments are some of the weakest and most ridiculous I’ve ever seen. They are an attack on freedom and the rule of law. Fulton County DA Fani Willis is a corrupt far-left attorney suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Earlier this week, Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) released the transcribed interview with the former FBI supervisory special agent that corroborates key details in the Hunter Biden investigation. The IRS and FBI were tipped off about a planned interview with Hunter Biden. They were never able to speak with Hunter.

The FBI interfered with an active investigation to protect the Biden Family Crime Syndicate. Our Justice Department is disgustingly corrupt.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH)  has issued subpoenas to FBI Director Christopher Wray and US Attorney General Merrick Garland related to the ongoing Big Tech Censorship investigation.

The DOJ must be held accountable for their role in censoring Americans’ right to freedom of speech. These subpoenas are a strong step in delivering that accountability.

Alien Invasion Border Documentary

Check out my border documentary titled Alien Invasion. The 30-minute documentary features footage from private ranches along the border, the Darien Gap in Panama, and interviews with members of Congress, Border Patrol, local and state law enforcement, and much more. It addresses how President Biden’s border crisis began, its consequences, and solutions to address the crisis.
