Congressional Update from U.S. Congressman Andy Barr
Protecting Community Health Centers

Kentucky Primary Care Association plays a critical role in advocating for the needs of community healthcare centers. Health First Bluegrass, Whitehouse Clinics, Sterling Health, and Cumberland Family Medical Center combined have served over 300,000 patients across Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District. This month, I welcomed the KPCA to my Washington, DC office to discuss my support for robust funding for community health centers in the previous and upcoming House appropriations. I was honored to receive the 2024 Distinguished Community Health Center Advocate Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers, and I look forward to continuing to support this essential sector in advancing access to healthcare in the Commonwealth.
Laken Riley Act
Joe Biden’s wide-open southern border has allowed at least 10.5 MILLION illegal immigrants to enter our country, and innocent Americans are paying the ultimate price. Tragedies like Laken Hope Riley's horrific murder can and must be prevented. How do we do this? By holding the administration accountable and making sure known criminal migrants are not walking the streets. This is why I proudly cosponsored the Laken Riley Act which will require ICE to detain illegal aliens who commit crimes and allow states to stand up for themselves against a federal government that fails to protect its citizens.
Protect Child Abuse Kentucky

I had the pleasure of welcoming my friend and former colleague Jill Seyfred to my Washington, DC office as she testified before a bipartisan congressional briefing on the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Jill currently serves as the Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky. The work CPAK does for our Commonwealth is critical for safeguarding the most vulnerable members of our society – our children, and I am proud to support their efforts.
Kentucky Credit Unions

I am grateful for the opportunity to welcome constituents from Kentucky Credit Unions across my district and the Commonwealth to Washington, DC. We had productive conservations regarding regulatory issues impacting their ability to serve their members.
Sincerely,
Congressman Andy Barr
